Hey check this headline out at KNS:
"Sal Sunseri: "We wanted to do better for the Vol nation"

He knows how powerful we are. :)

Every article those goobs have written about him the past month has that same pic of him where he looks like one of the 3 stooges.

By the way Odd ball, with regard to Gruden I sure hope Moriarty aint feelin no negative waves. :)

I don't think Hart's concern is so much about having the power to decide the head coach. I think it's more about getting people out of the way so that the AD can succeed. He is already fixing it, and we should be thankful that we have him on board.

You might be right. I am just speculating based on some speculation that Hart was kind of pissing on the whole process because he wasn't involved. If that is true, my argument holds water. If it isn't...well its all moot anyway.

While we are having a slow day, I just wanted to say that when all of this is over, I will NEVER let anybody who ever thought for a second that Gruden may sign for Arkansas live it down.

As petty as it is, I will seize on every opportunity to remind you of it in the harshest terms possible.

You know who you are.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

That certainly sounds reasonable to me.

I make no bones about defense is what I care about most. I love predators more then prey. It just been unbearable lately.....anyone know what names Gruden would be associated with who'd consider DC at Tn....

For the record I like Gruden a lot I know he gets it, as far as the things that I like. He's aggressive.....but I will hold my breath till I hear a new DC ....... We have talant now that could and should be performing better. I miss the Chief so badly.

Raheem Morris:rock:

12-16 would be a great 21st birthday present......but I sure as hell don't want to wait that long.

I think you misread contact period starts 25 nov 2012.... Why wait until 30 nov to announce...

Announce on Monday take test get on the road and start recruiting ...... Quiet period starts 16 dec.....followed by dead period 2 weeks....

Get the next coach and staff on board and on road ASAP. Or get it announced. Take advantage of the fact that our competition in the future is tied up in CGs and bowls....

Get in early and late with recruits......it is an advantage

Brent Hubbs doesn't believe that Dave Hart and Jon Gruden have directly spoken yet.

He thinks next week is when Hart starts flying around having in person conversations with candidates.

Whether its Raheem Morris or any other DC, I wouldn't worry dude. Gruden knows football, off and def inside and out. He absolutely hates losing and is the kinda guy that demands excellence from his coaches and players. If he's our head coach, you can bet we will have the most balanced offense and defense we've had in a long time.

I think an argument could be made that it goes a step further. Rumors are that Hart would quit if he didn't have the authority that he felt that he had, and that would leave the AD in even more of a mess. Perhaps the deal is done, but the big money people are trying to give him the leeway that he feels like he needs to review the situation. Then, when he has a list, they all get together and point out that Gruden is the best on that list. Then, done deal and all are happy. Maybe?

I think what really happened is that the boosters lined up Gruden and handed a contract to Hart.

Hart got mad and replied: "I am in charge. I will hire who I want and you can't tell me what to do".

Mr. Haslam walked over to Hart, put his arm around him and said "Son, you can hire whoever you want. But if the person you hire isn't named Jon Gruden, you'll be gone before the ink can dry on the contract."

That is more or less how it would have gone down.

Like I said a long time ago, the naysayers have a win win. If Gruden doesn't come they get to rub it in and say I told you so. If he comes, they'll say, who cares if I was wrong, we have Gruden. Give em all the hell you can dish out!

That would not line up with what Hart said in the PC. Critical that a hire be made in December for recruiting purposes. If he starts "flying around" next week, no way he can have a coach in place that soon. JMO.

So you fleshed it out a little more specifically than I did, but other than that, it seems like we agree?

Is it Thanksgiving in East Tennessee tomorrow, may not have too far to fly, everyone likes to go home for Thanksgiving! Just a thought!

Doesn't mean its happening, just a thought!

First when not if....sorry dude had to do that. One thing that I thought about, that was reinforced this morning while watching Mike & Mike, is how detail orientated he is. To think about him watching & breaking down UT game film.....chills!!!

Couldn't agree more. I think Strong is only mentioned due to the minority rule at this point if Gruden is in fact "the guy".

NCAA does not have a minority interview rule. The NFL does, the "Rooney Rule." However, most Division 1 institutions recognize the problem and have adopted voluntary guidelines that they follow to ensure inclusion.

The NFL is for profit and can legally draft and enforce this type of rule. The NCAA is a non-profit, voluntary organization and cannot.
