Official Jon Gruden Thread IX

I understand the references over the past week to month on only a colossal screw up preventing this from happening.

Everything has been served up for Hart for the formal sign off.

If for some reason Hart doesn't... unthinkable.

Hart might be flexing his muscles a bit, pondering/contemplating for show... but at the end of the day I bet he gives the green light. It would be career suicide at Tennessee, or hell, evidence that he really is a bama mole, if he doesn't.

I haven't been keeping up with all the rumors/Gruden speculation, but here's an interesting fact...

A friend of mine bumped into Jon Gruden and his wife at the Nashville downtown Marriott on the day of the Vanderbilt game.

Makes me wonder if there was a meeting between UT reps and Gruden that happened that day in Nashville as a way to stay under the radar. Would make sense considering any travel by Gruden to Knoxville would be detected and reported immediately.

Twitter is hilarious right now...I follow the search term "Gruden" and it is mostly positive Tennessee fans and news except for some Arky fans who are really mad! Pure entertainment!

Hahaha...I'm glad I don't follow twitter but I bet it's hilarious

Question for you guys. There have been plenty of people say how cushy the MNF job is. There are obviously more man hours put into coaching, but don't you guys think he studies a great deal of film, player bios, interviews, etc. Not to mention the travel involved which requires you to be away from your family. I don't understand the perception behind the lack of workload behind MNF, and how much of the less travel and being close to family play a part in this process?

He was in california

First let me say I think Gruden would be a homerun hire which is what UT HAS to have this time around the coaching carousel though I am still questioning his ability to coach at the collegiate level, maybe we'll see, maybe not but this post isn't about his ability. I have like a lot on here been excited and entertained by these posts and do spend a lot of time looking but the posts on here, Twitter and on Grudenville are all saying the same thing that it's a "done deal" that Gruden is going be coaching here, unfotunately "here" is wherever that person is a fan of, bottom line is this, there has not been one shred of evidence that I can find that anyone knows for certain that Gruden is coming to UT, yes he was a grad assistant, wife was a cheerleader, property owned near Knoxville, blah, blah, etc. While all of this is fun and hyped up it is simply wishful thinking, the only person on earth that knows for sure is Jon Gruden and until he speaks then everything else is simply rumor.

@ClayTravisBGID: Increasingly, Gruden to Vols is sounding a ton like Urban Meyer to Ohio State. I think it's going to happen. Jon Gruden Owns Land In East Tennessee : Outkick The Coverage

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Likens Gruden to UT the same as Urban to Ohio State.
Guess when we welcome Gruden we're gonna have a whole lot of guys that are gonna act like they never turned their back on Tennessee (Clay Travis, Kenny Chesney, etc.).

I am not trying to be negative. I am just over people on one side saying, "GIVE IT UP! HE IS NOT COMING!" like they know for sure he is not coming, and the people on the other saying, "HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE FACT THAT I KNOW GRUDEN WILL BE OUR NEXT COACH. IT IS A FACT BASED ON A RUMOR I HEARD!". Both sides of that coin are stupid.

I believe 70% or so he does come, but I am not going preach fact until it is fact.
