Why do people feel the need to criticize a guy like LWS?

I know why. Because he doesn't tell them what they want to hear so they act like spoiled children when he makes a statement counter to what they're so desperate to hear more reinforcement of what they already heard. These same people would be exalting him and praising his name if he were on the other side of the argument, saying that it MUST be a done deal if LWS said so because of his "connections."

He may or may not be right on this. Regardless, he doesn't deserve for folks to denigrate his name just because he doesn't tell them what they want to hear.

Yeah so whats your point??

hehe jk don't taze me bro :)

Is it just me, or does it seem like the media is about a month behind? Or possibly just releasing old information to show they aren't completely out of the loop. Wasn't it not too long ago that Hubbs said Gruden was not a possibility?

Tennessee did not want it to appear that they were doing anything regarding the coaching search "pre-Dooley firing". All of the media outlets getting info from the AD are getting info that makes it seem as if the search is just beginning...when we all know conversations under the table have been going on for at least a month.

Neither Tennessee or Gruden want it to seem that Dooley was forced out just because Gruden was a possibility.

This is once again why I don't believe November 30th is the date, I think that is too soon. Too much time before Gruden is done with MNF and too close to when Dooley was let go.

If it is Gruden I think December 10th or 17th weeks are more likely.

Saw in the cliff notes where Deerpark said in regards to the September 30th date:

"Since several executive staff members in the AD are required to be in Atlanta for SEC meetings and events that day, I doubt it."

Any thoughts on this?

I do not think it takes an executive staff to hold a press conference or make a press release. Deerpark is as solid as they come, but sounds like his opinion based on knowledge of who will be in Atlanta. I do not put much weight in it, one could fly here do a presser and be back in Atlanta in 3 hours.

Even if he was here for just 6 or 7 years.

If he wins say 3 SEC Championships and 2 National Championships in that time span he would be remembered here pretty well indeed.

And just so you guys know I'm still firmly on the Gruden train.

I am, however, also on the Stoops train.

Have been for awhile. I would be absolutely giddy with that hire.

I don't disagree with this.

Whether you like him or not, Stoops would have us competing for SECCs and possibly NCs. He is a fantastic coach, and if we hire a current college coach, he is the best name out there. Mora has done well so far, but I am not sure how he would do in the SEC.

Stoops knows the SEC, and he can recruit Texas like a freight train.

AINGE JUST SAID THE ANNOUNCEMENT IS SET FOR the 30th....

Pretty sure Ainge will revert back to his previous radio show title of "Morning Wood" for his Monday, December 3rd show if in fact he's right about the announcement date. :birgits_giggle:

The announcment can be made on the 30th. (ESPN sources have learned that Jon Gruden will become the next coach at TN) and the presser the following week... JMO

There will be No need for all of them to be at a Press conference... I don't recall a full board gathering the at the last press conference announcements...

just my thoughts?....Deerpark is more solid than LWS imho though

Have the presser in ATL? I think it will be done by the 30th.

Agreed, I don't see how it would be possible. As long as Notre Dame wins and Bama wins that will be your title game. If ND loses and Bama wins I could see a possible SEC vs SEC match, but I hate to think Florida would be in it. I hate Florida, but my main reason would be that Alabama would take Florida to a woodshed of no return. It would be the ugliest NC game ever.

Fla will lose to Fla St so all is good :dance2:

Is Hart one of the people required to be in Atlanta that day?

Haskew is still full on. Dr. B (102.3 Sporstalk in Chattanooga) from his facebook update:

I know he can play it up, but I am not sure he would be putting that kind of smack out there if he wasn't absolutely sure.

Maybe others have better insight into Dr. B, but that is pretty telling to me.

He ain't no Clay Travis for sure.
