I agree. I am not buying the whole "announce on espn" theory at all.

That just flies in the face of decorum in these situations and gives the whole thing a "publicity stunt" type flavor.

Not just that, but I would think that Gruden himself would want to do it on campus at the podium. Traditionally speaking.

Just tossing out my humble here...but I don't think you see the university maneuver $18 mil., hold BOT meetings, and
keep the AD in office without showing signs of an active search for a Strong or Golden...you go through those motions for a big name..like one who wears a Super Bowl ring and is (possibly) the best known face is football..

No Doubt. I agree totally that ESPN will be the first to break it "officially". They will be the first to have any legit info in this at all.

Sorry was editing it. My honest prediction is Gruden hasn't said yes to us but we asked. If he agrees he will be the highest paid coach in NCAA. If he doesn't I am not sure where we go. Fisher and Strong both have teams that might be going to a BCS bowl game. Are they going to leave before a BCS bowl game? Outside of that no idea.

Here is a question that I will preface by saying I of course think Jon Gruden will be wildly successful here....but I have seen where people have said he isn't great at evaluating talent....anyone have thoughts on this?

I think his recent experiences in the combines and offensive camps will help, but most of the time the head coach isn't the primary talent evaluater. The one thing that concern me with Gruden is what Haney said, he said that he feels Gruden is a relentless worker and may burn himself out of the college game, but if he dedicates himself to it and spreads out the responsibility he will be fine...
