Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

That's ok....you're entitled.

This hire has more moving parts hiring extraneous details than hiring an unknown WAC coach.

See the bolded:

If Gruden really is the next coach, then I think the delay in firing Dooley is either because his contract details are still being ironed out, or there is some serious support left for Dooley inside the AD.

And excuse the vague pronoun reference. My high school English teacher would kill me. That was in reference to Gruden's contract.

I know you are a 100pet guy I just didn't recall if you had stated he has signed a MOU. Some on here have said that and I wondered if you were one.

My source has not been told that. My guess, based on the original timeline is that he probably has....but I don't know that for sure.

Doubtful.....he is the interim coach. Again, if we let him go then the speculation about a search and Gruden goes into overdrive. As long as Dooley is in place there is no "search" and therefore no media pressure.

This is a fantastic answer to the question people keep asking about the timeline. Should be put in the 'Cliff Notes' thread and referred to often.

If there is serious support in the AD for Dooley the attendance in these last home games shall take care of that.

Dave Hart at the presser

Ladies and Gentlemen and all Vol fans watching, I would like to take this time to introduce our new Head Football Coach on Rocky Top...Jon Gruden

Hubbs says at 7-5 Hart will be 50-50 on firing Dooley or bringing him back. He said Dooley's fate has 100% not been decided even though many power boosters are ready to see him go.

He added this below that makes me very excite about the Gruden possibilities though.

while it's impossible to tell because Gruden isn't publicly saying anything specific in regards to the Tennessee job, he does seem to have legitimate interest in the job and there are those close to Gruden who continue to believe that if a change is made and Tennessee has a competitive offer sheet (read: greater than $5 million), it might be too much for Gruden to pass up. There are others who know Gruden who don't think he would come to the college game. And others who believe if somehow he did end up at Tennessee, then his staff would have a Vol feel to it.

That is the second or third time Hubbs has mentioned Gruden putting together a staff so far. IF he is already mentioning details about the potential Gruden staff it shows me that this is very, very real and there are just going to have to be the final nail put in Dooley and the boosters following through with the $$$ to make it happen.

I've decided to come into to town this afternoon. Not a very good sign for Dooley that I was able to get a room at the Crowne the day of....on homecoming.

Does anyone really get excited for homecoming, though, besides current frat/sorority members that live on campus anyway? Do fraternity/sorority alumni come into town for it?

This would seem to favor the possibility of keeping Graham in a coaching change. I definitely like that aspect.

My sources tell me that no one knows anything ...

My sources also tell me Dooley is the current head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers

i see people keep sayin if UT were smart and gruden was comin he would be locked into a contract. many seem to forget he has a contract for MNF he probably has to finish out before he can officially do anything. most of all i am sure gruden does not want to burn bridges with espn. how horrible would it look if he upped and left or did something to create a problem with his contract. can i say kiffin?? u guys need to think business. gruden is coming. he more than likely just can not officially sign anothing now and it would not be smart to. he is coming, there is nothin else anyone can say more than that. no one knws any more details for good reasons, especially ones i made. patience. freakin out is getting none of ua anywhere.

You just now signed up, and chose the username CJ2K? Interesting...

Shouldve gone with CJ1.2K, but anyway, welcome to the board. Are you an alter?

Not good.

This is probably a stupid question....you in Lexington?

I have 7 UK grads on my moms side of the family. They all live in Lexington, Grant County, or Northern Ky.

I'm the blacksheep. Thanksgiving is always fun.

Have you ever tried to book a room downtown the day before any UT game?
