I call a group "guys" pretty much all the time no matter if there are girls present. Giving a presentation in college, I started off by saying "I hope you guys all had as much fun researching as I did". I got a D from the very beginning because my female professor was convinced I was a chauvinist. Guess that was one of her pet peeves.
