I always ran a stacked 4-4.. so if my DE gets sucked in i got the outside LB and inside LB to contain, and clean up..

I used a 5-3 and put my best players at tackle and MLB.

We were 9 years old so the problem with this was the pass. A couple of teams burned us on pass plays but overall worked pretty good for us.

Jay, sorry if this has already been asked, but...from what you & others know, what is the THING or PERSON that could kill this deal? Thx in advance.

Don't know of a specific thing or person. This is a complicated deal. Things are good.

Now this is true.. but how many times can you count on all 11 players to be doing their job right at the sametime. Like you you just said, it only takes one guy to not be doing their job.. you got to scheme and exploit that.. and I WILL find that guy guy and exploit that.. thats what a good OC does.. something Cheney hasnt done..

That's what reps are for. Players are just going to get beat from time to time resulting in big plays. However, there's absolutely no excuse to not follow your reads/progressions or use improper technique. Drill drill drill until it's habit. It's all about discipline and a sense of responsibility to the team. Discipline in respect to assignments must be demanded not expected or hoped for. You'd be surprised what happens with a zero bust policy. Players will give what is demanded of them if the coach has their respect.

Cat people ITT.

I have a Maine Coon-Himalayan mix. He is huge, doesnt use a litter box he goes out like a dog then scratches to come back in. If we didnt live on a wooded lot that has a lot of raccoons and possums we would install a cat door lol.

My friend has a cat like that. I was house sitting about two weeks ago for him and let it out with the dogs like usual and it just came back home yesterday.. I thought it was dead for sure.

I didn't stack my OLBs but I'm a 4-4 guy too. That extra contain/force player out there is like a security blanket.

I just love the flexibility of the 4-4. I can handle a double tight wishbone or a 5 wide empty set without subbing. With today's multiple offenses, that helps.

If your LBs are reading their keys (flow to- attack direct/ flow away- take counter read step to check counter to prevent the sucking in) it doesn't matter. If my backside DEs ever gets sucked inside, he's getting a foot in his azz. Defense is all about playing your responsibility/gap. Do your job and trust your teammates to do theirs. If that doesn't happen, bad things happen to the guy that busted an assignment. They learn quickly....

Good post.. D ends r way under appreciated.. I didn't realize that til I had to come down there for a few games in high school.. Keeping contain and not falling off the cliff r very important to a d's success.

I totally agree with everything your saying... But its my job, OC's job to make you not follow your reads, keys what have you.. if your not disciplined, i will exploit find that, and exploit it.. this is not what cheney is doing, and what other teams are doing to our defense.. one way or another.. i will find your weakness.. i will score.. thats always been mine and my teams mentallity..

All you have to do is look at our D to see what no contain will do to you. Destroys everything. Everything.
