How could you kill the next few season more than starting the last three 0-5 in the conference?

U seen bama//uf/uga's rosters? I don't know If it will get much better for a little while no matter who's coach.. Building this roster up to their level is the only thing that will give us a shot at beating them anytime soon.. And they have a TON of young talent that'll be there for a while..

Personally, I have about had it with the whole "savior" mentality. Corporations do it, nfl teams do it, and the truth is, it does not work. There is no one person who brings us back, it is recognizing that EVERY hire around this football program be the BEST. I don't care if it's the dude running the video taping the game film. If you don't EXPECT PERFECTION, you dang sure won't get it.

Very true..

We had enough talent this year to beat MSU and South Carolina. Our talent while not up to UG and Bama was better this year than we have looked.

Dont like dooley...Cool...Dont like Hart thats ok too,Any player that runs thru the T and gives thier all for Tennessee is a VFL...I think good riddance is a bit of a stretch...I want gruden as much as anyone BUT I could care less who the coach is so long as they WIN if it is Dooley, Grduen or the water boy coaching...Dont care,...Just my thoughts from the Farm! :twocents:

I still believe we had enough to beat Florida
We had them early and we were 2-0

You're right, we should just give up. I'm down for a Doolittle 10 year contract extension.

and with the right head coach a team can at LEAST be competitive with those teams without as much talent till we get there.

the problem is.. the majority of the players are not giving their all.. its obvious on the field..

Yep.

Thats why if we do this, and yes I beleive we will, we need to do it as smooth as possible. We need to keep as much of our roster as we can.

Yes, and don't look now but most of this o-line is back next year I believe. Those guys will be a rock for the next coach to build on.

There is NOT ONE downside to getting rid of this guy. We can't be any worse than we have been under Dooley. He has found rock bottom for us.

The administration (no matter who the president is) has never supported paying mega bucks for athletic coaches. That being said, the mega boosters, have and always will dictate things in the athletic department. That being the case, if the mega boosters want DD out, and want to make a home run hire they will, and if not they won't. It's that simple. It' doesn't make one once of difference what fans, talk show hosts etc. want or say, the big money people will determine the outcome, like always.

True to an extent. The common fan has the power not to show up however and that in turn affects what the booster in his luxury box does. 30,000 or more empty seats leave an impression.

This team was able to compete with every team it played except Bama (and even that game was within reach mid-way through the third quarter). And it has done so with marginal coaching.

So, I disagree with you. I think this team is closer than a lot of people think, and a good coach can get them over the hump while continuing to add better talent. This is especially true if Bray and one of Patterson/Hunter return (and they all need another year in college IMO).

I would not expect an undefeated season next year, but 8 wins is attainable and maybe more.

I agree except secondary talent.. And that's what's been losing these games.. They're being exploited... And some more bad luck losing Lanier and Randolph.. We just didn't have the experience/talent back there to lose our best corner and then our best safety..
