Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Surely he should see the potential in revenue alone with a Jon Gruden as HFC at UT! In and around the university and state.

Or could be as simple as, if he's not here, you're not either.

I vote for 2!

I like #2 as well. I think the whole situation was a power struggle. Cheek lost.

My belief is he wants to be here for personal reasons, and may view this as his last coaching job. He is moving the family home.

I know the contract options are all lengthy, which is a good sign to me too.

That's definitely a great sign that he is serious about it and wants to be here for hopefully the duration of his coaching career. Has anyone mentioned how excited his wife is and how much of a role she is playing in him taking it. I know personal reasons have come up, could she be a huge factor in it?

What is attendance this weekend in your opinion. I am going to say the upper deck will be 1/4 full scattered and the lower bowl will be scattered a little towards the top, I say the tops is 75k, which is still pretty impressive if you really think about it.

If CJG comes here I will be extremely excited. But.... It does scare me a little if he brings in a new offense that has never been even tested to see if it works. Not saying it won't but come on it might be the highest paid contract ever for someone when the product they bring to the table is still in its testing phase.

Whatever he does, it will be slow and methodical. He will dole it out in little bits that the players can digest.

I wouldn't be surprised if he initially keeps some of what the offense is currently doing, especially the O-Line.

IMO, the potential backlash of handling it with that rationale would be the next logical question: "Then why did you sign him to a contract duration without the intent of honoring that contract duration? If he's done all you expected of him so far, then why terminate him?"

I almost feel as though the correct avenue would be to respond something like: "CDD has worked very hard, and we thank him for the work that he's done in correcting the direction of the program so far. However, we feel that the product on the field has not improved to the level that we expected. So, we are going in a new direction. CDD is an exceptional guy. We have every expectation that he will be a success in his future endeavors."

Good point, I like yours better.

While the number looks good - Neyland will look empty at that level.

Anybody know what the lowest attendance of the last 10 years is?

No one willing to take on that Al Golden question? Would he be a possible DC candidate?

Nobody knows. Check with OCI.

**edit....shouldn't have said that. I vowed to stay neutral.

You all are very optimistic about JG. I wish I could be......Would be awesome to see but I just dont think it will......

I'm just as skeptical as you are but there is a small group of guys on here that don't put out bs and are very trustworthy. They all agree and have sources that are trustworthy that says he is gone and Gruden is in. I'm trying to hold back excitement until it is announced, but the guys that are bringing the info just make it to hard to not be excited. I don't have any doubts anymore, just ready for it to be announced and see what kind of recruiting class they will bring in this first season. Sounds like we will have our RB of the future in D. Green.

Announced will be higher, but I think somewhere between 65-75k is a good bet.
