Exactly. In fact, most Arkansas fans I know (there aren't many) would take Petrino back in a heartbeat. They have tasted winning and realize he's probably the only coach that can win at that level at Arkansas. I tend to agree.

We should have more standards than just Wins and Losses. The guy is a scumbag. There is 100% certainty that if he were hired, I would not renew my season tickets. Absolutely cannot cheer for someone like him.

Have heard stories about why things fell apart in Louisville. Petrino's players fear the guy. I don't know why, but while he is around they tow the line.

Regarding Petrino: As a father of a future VOL quarterback (He's 7 but we've already sent in his LOI) and 2 daughters, there's no way I'd let him attend Tennessee. I wouldn't allow a man who cheats on his wife, disrespects his children and lies to his employer to be the loudest voice in my sons ear during some of the most critical years of his life. I'd assume many parents will fill the same way. JMO though.

I think that is solid reasoning...because I'm currently experiencing said scenario.

Southern girls typically are family girls. I know it from experience, too. I met and married my wife after I moved to Texas. And when I married her, I knew I was marrying Texas as well. It is all good.

"I glimpsed an intimate family moment after the team's loss to south carolina on saturday, and I'll never get that picture out of my mind. Dooley had just suffered a disappointing and potentially career-altering loss. He had just walked through the tunnel to the chant of 'Dooley-you're-fired.' He had just spoken with a broken-hearted team and he had just held a press conference for nosy journalists like me. His response was to go out and sit down on the pavement with his wife and son. He put his arm around his boy and gave his wife a reassuring nod. It was tragically beautiful." -Sports Editor

From the Daily Beacon today. Kind of depressing honestly.

Parted ways with a little debutant from Tejas for that very reason.

I believe his buyout at Arkansas for him leaving was in the $10M to $15M range.

Petrino's buyout was $18 million. He signed that new deal in 2010 after the Sugar Bowl.

He supposedly wanted the fan base to know he wanted to retire as our coach.

See what happened? Y'all don't want that piece of ****.

He's worse than Lane Kiffen.

We don't have anything to forgive him for. I hope the guy has learned a few life lessons....I'm just afraid he is a narcissist. Of course...most of the great ones are. Hence the appeal of Gruden.

Agreed. My take onPetrino is that sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom for us to learn the important things in life. Brokenness comes before revival. I hope and pray he has taken steps to repair his family relationships. He owes us nothing, he needs to focus on that and I would be delighted to see a real comeback story with him. I know that 10 years ago, my church would have wanted no part of meas their pastor, and rightfully so. We are all a work in progress. My concern with Petrino is more about his continual flirtation with other jobs and reported issues in dealing with people. I just think it wouldnt be a great fit. I wouldnt jump ship if he was hired, I would support him and pray for him as a man above all. This could be a setup for a comeback with him and if that is the case (we dont know the guy's heart), it would be great for UT to be a part of that comeback. I just dont know the guy, dont know his heart, but hope he has grown and taken steps to put his family back together. As someone who has been hurt in the way his family has by his actions, I sympathize for them more than any program or fanbase.

I have said many times, the longer the wait coupled with more losses, Bobby Petrino will be forgiven by this fan base.

Many people have said that Gruden could work wonders with our offense. What scares me is to think what Petrino would do with our D.

Of course, with Gruden's current job, he can choose to live anywhere. However, if he wants to get back into coaching, I would wager that Mrs. Cindy Gruden will be much happier with his legendary 18 hours days if she is around family in Knoxville, than she would be in those lovely destination cities up north named Cleveland or Philadelphia. I don't see a Tennessee girl embracing that at all.

I am going to state something from personal experience. If Gruden was, in fact, looking at houses in Knoxville with his wife, then you can pretty much chalk this up as a done deal unless Cheek ar Hart do something stupid (always a possibility, I know).

Here is why, and all of the married guys and gals can attest to it. When you get a local girl excited about moving home to be close to her family, you better be ready to follow it through to completion if you want a happy wife.

Boom?

I think we know what we are getting if it happens. As long as he is on the sidelines, a contingency plan is a necessity.

Yep, you don't want him to be the face of your program(especially with that neck brace) but you don't want to play against his teams either.

I would much rather Tennesse have Petrino than Auburn. I wouldn't want to play him every year, not to mention next year as Auburn comes to town. That would be AWKWARD... :censored:
