Gruden is not taking over until after the season....don't know where everyone is getting that. Dooley or an interim will finish the year.
I still very much doubt Gruden is our guy, but I'm glad you clarified this point for me at least as to what people believe here. I was thinking people honestly believed Gruden might show up on Saturday and coach us against Troy. That was part of what made this whole thing sound so completely absurd to me.
The other part that continues to cause this to sound absurd and is the reason I doubt this whole Gruden bit, is that despite what the negateers say, our team is definitely talented enough to win out the rest of this season and to capture a bowl win. And Dooley is a good enough coach to help them do that - he did it in 2010 with less talent against an equally mediocre schedule (and many will agree he was robbed in the bowl game against UNC). Georgia is the only team that has put up 50 points on our awful defense and that is what it will take for any of the remaining 4 teams to beat us. Becuase i have every expectation our team will be putting up 50+ on each of them.
So - if Dooley wins out and finishes 8-5, it just seems strange to fire him. In the context of an 8 win season and a season in which we were either in or won every SEC game (save Bama), that just doesn't seem reasonable.
Layer on top of that the fact that Gruden to Tennessee in general still sounds fishy to me, and this all doesn't add up.
But we'll see. Maybe one or two of these November teams picks us off and I get proven comletely wrong.

Dooley is not going to be the coach next year. Period. Beating Troy, Vandy, Kentucky, and Mizzou proves nothing of his coaching abilities (if he is even able to pull all those out).
This fanbase is seriously schizophrenic at this point.
Just because there is no news to be had every 17 minutes does not mean the process is not moving forward. There are a lot of moving parts to this thing, and as bad as we all want it to happen, nobody in the AD or in Grudens camp is working on on our schedule.
Dooley is gone and knows it. His public dismissal will come at a time that is most adventageous for the parties involved. Gruden has agreed in principle, and will sign when there publicly is a job
None of that has changed in the last two weeks when I and a couple of others compared our info from several different sources and found that it lined up.
These things take time and the fact that we found out early makes it seem even worse. We've said from the beginning to be patient.
If Gruden has agreed in principle what is the downside to pulling the trigger the moment the details are ironed out?
Dooley must know hes a dead man walking and we dont need recruiting to suffer.
Buyout negotiation. It's really that simple. They are letting Dooley swing. He's under contract and cannot contact other opportunities without breeching his contract. This is about leverage.
You need to get your brain examined.
Since the words of the day last week were "money is no problem", why is the buyout negotiation such a big deal now? Just pay the guy and move on.
Why?? Because I know Gru-bage's past history, have PROVEN Gru-bage's past history, yet YOU and others STILL can't see past the shiny SERPER BERHL RIIIIIIING ERMAGHERD?? I don't want Gru-bage as the HC of the Vols, so that he can turn us into Tampa 2.0, except this time he doesn't have Monte Kiffin to fall back on......so games WILL be lost, and lost BADLY.

Not sarcasm. The statements you make about what Gruden wants leads me to believe you spend a lot of time with him, or you are very close to him in some capacity. Is this not correct?
