Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Now, I don't know what they plan to do with their money but spending a billion when you are worth $3 billion is not that big of a deal. I mean, it's not like the Browns are going to suddenly be worth chump change next week. They would still have $2 billion in the bank.

Wrap your head around that word.....billion. One million dollars x 2,000. They could spend $1,000,000 per day and it would take them almost 6 years to do it.

Worth and cash on hand are different things . I say Haslam needs to hire Gruden .

Thunder isn't going on welfare anytime soon either

Peyton isn't either. There are plenty of big money donors out there to raise the money (up to $9 million to buy our all current coaches, who knows how much to get the new staff) if they want it to happen. The question is: Do they want it to happen?

I really hope that the answer is yes.

There is a big difference between SBV going out on a limb and OCI going out on a limb. And I mean no disrespect to Jay, DTO, Boro, Carter, etc with that statement, because they've all been consistent all along as well, and I take their word to the bank, too.

Guess I'll learn my lesson if this is an epic troll job...until then...

GRUDEN

No disrespect taken. SBV has good info.

I believe yes because of declining ticket sales and UT being an afterthought nationally. These guys have their egos tied to this. Rich people usually get what they want.

Just going by what you posted,
SO They just spent a billion to buy the browns 1/3 of your running money is a big bet .

Not if you buy a sure thing. The Browns will make loadds of money from the NFL TV money alone. Winning is nice, but not necessary to make money. The Browns need a lot more than a coach right now anyway.

Sorry guys , I dont think your guy haslam has enough liquidity to spend his money like you think . Better get some more boosters on board so we can HIRE GRUDEN

I believe either I am confused or others on here are confused....

I do not believe the current staff would be a lump sum buyout..... nor would the new coaching staff's salary would be a lump sum......

So whats the profit percentage and the cash flow bro ?

Never think you know more than the guy you are responding to .

Some might take a snap shot and say " Gasoiline is the fuel of the next 200 years . Some would be wrong . "

I dont think I know more than anybody. You implied that they were tapped out financially and were not in a position to pony up big bucks (to me) to get this deal done when the money involved is small compared to their resourses. BTW revenue close to $18B operating revenue $475M profit almost $350M. Margin small but large volume.

Alright, it's my turn.

One of the perks I've found about coaching competitive soccer in east Tennessee is you get to meet a lot of people with money. A lot. We all know that money equals people in the know.

Well, one of the top 5 donors lives in Cleveland. Same guy that told me and friends Dooley was about to be hired AND Kiffin back in the day. We all know how that worked out. Apparently Hart was in town recently and is making his stops raising money.

Dooley is gone, plain and simple.

He said Gruden is all in IF the money is right. He is the main focus and they have not interviewed anybody else. Al Golden is second and Tubberville is 3rd on the list of wants.

Don't believe me, that's cool. Can't really blame you. I don't believe anything you guys claim either :)

I know most would hate it, but Tubbs is a helluva guy. Don't think it is anywhere near the best hire, but I would have a direct line to things if he brings a guy with him that's been with him since his Ole Miss days.

In the contract, Dooley's buyout is to be paid over 36 months or until the end of his original contract (whichever is longer). The others are stuctured in a similar way. However, you want the money to be in an account up front, because you don't want to get into a situation where you can't make a payment.

The funny thing is that a lot of people would give small donations if they knew it was going to this, and I would be right in line. It adds up. See Obama's 2008 campaign as an example.

OCI posts positive yet vague predictions about recruits. Example, "Staff feels good about ___________." Then lists the kids other top 4 schools and says watch out for them. Then when something doesn't happen he points back to his out. If said kid picks Tennessee he quotes his old post and puts the smiling face tipping the hat there.

Far different than what the OG's have done in here. I think OCI is a good guy, but likely 12 years old and as stated earlier a war lord in dungeons and dragons.

Probably has a stache too.

woah, woah woah, hold on just a minute here

What is wrong with having a stache?

Did OCI really admit he was trolling?
Its funny that there are so many people who are just now getting that OCI just rides the coattails of anyone else who has great information and he throws crap out there in addition....just like a dartboard.

I don't have an issue with Tubbs... Personally I think he should already have an NC on his resume...

Tech is up to 14 nationally also...

Dude, relax. This is the Gruden thread...of course we're all going to be Gruden supporters in here.

I'm not saying Golden and Tubberville aren't good coaches...I'm just saying they're not my first choice if Gruden doesn't work out.

I hear ya. And I'm with you in a way. I'd love to get Gruden and he's my first choice too. I'm just a really big doubter on this one. There's something funny about the story. I know this is worn out, but I feel like this Shannon all over again. it's just too easy to fan the flames on a story like this with such a desperate fan base. I think somebody somewhere is having a lot of fun with this.
