Official Jon Gruden Thread III

The silence coming from the AD and Grudens people is deafening.

Show where one of the regulars has made a retraction of what they predicted? I haven't seen one, but I admit I am busy all day and most of the night and if there is 20 pages between logins I often just hit last page and start over.

Go back, look at what has been said by who, then see if anyone has "backed up" on their assertions. I havent seen Boro,Jay,SBV,OV, DTO, or any of the others that obviously (to me at least) have contacts that are privy to the discussion say anything different or report that they have heard anything different.

What everyone DID said is get ready for media denials, Doolaid drinking trolls, and those that have such a low opinion of my Alma Mater that they think there is NO WAY anyone like Gruden would come here.

Nothing is 100% until it is done. People get left at the altar, people get hired to show up and find out there is no job. **** happens, no one has said the contract is signed. All indications are that he will be our next coach, if for no other reason those that have shared information and continued to do so laid out a week ago or longer what would happen. It has all come to fruition. So called "Vol Fans" are so quick to say he WILL NEVER come to UT and somehow justify that stance as valid, while someone that says they are 99.9% sure the deal is agreed upon is just looking for ecred or whatever. Its a ridiculous double standard belonging at the peak of Mt Hypocrisy!

I'm an OG, I've wanted Gruden for the past three coaching searches. I've been in this thread non stop since the first post of thread one, and no disrespect to anyone who has heard differently but skeeter says no body within the AD has even mentioned Gruden, and that if a deal is in place, Hart is the only person within the AD that knows about it. I trust skeeter over everyone on this board, it is apparent to me that he KNOWS. He has a proven track record, one that I can't ignore. I think Dooley is done, but in no way do I believe that a deal with Gruden is done. I hope by all accounts that I am wrong, but I just don't see how that is plausible right now.

Has Skeet heard any other names or is there no talk about a coaching change at all?

I don't see Hart parading around the AD in the middle of a season talking about Gruden. Skeeter said he is sure Dooley is gone. That said I am confident there are efforts going through intermediaries to land the biggest fish in coaching.

Okay, last night I read the first 50 pages, literally.
I can't sit down and read the next 207 pages.

So, can anyone give me an update ... has anyone (oci, sbv, lws) said anything more?

Thanks.

The butt-hurt and down-trodden want to believe and if this happens they will all be Grudenites. They vent and spew their vitriol due to the hopelessness of thinking Dooley could turn it around.

Same guys saying what if beat USC. True Gruds know 2 things. 1. We won't 2. Won't matter any ways

This. Skeeter has a PROVEN track record. Most of his info has been in recruiting in the past, but he's been dead on, unlike so many that say whatever they want and then backtrack later.

He has not always been correct. He has also said Dooley is out.

I'm a journalist as well, and it depends. The other poster is correct as this story would be HUGE for anyone who reported it but it is possible that the AD could deny them access in the future if they break without permission. If it was me though, I'd break this story in a second and not think twice.

That's a tough choice, a catch 22. On the one hand, you break the story and build credibility. On the other hand, you break the story, and you pretty much burn bridges in the market where you work jeopardizing your job. I don't know what I'd do. I guess you could always move.:)

Not only that, but I have said all along that getting Dooley out is far more paramount in my mind than who we hire. Everyone, well most, want Gruden and I still am 100% on board BUT if it doesnt happen, the only thing that will cause a meltdown WITH ME is if it results in Dooley being the coach another year. Even though I spent a lot of time and money at UT, and I will never be a fan of another team, it might be like the baseball strike all over again for me. I might just be done with sports all together at that point. NCAA football is the only sport I even pay attention to. I couldnt name one basketball starter, only know the coaches names because of business, and do not follow any professional sport. I turned on the TV and a baseball game was on, I thought baseball was over?

If that very unlikely thing happens, maybe we can organize a check burning outside Harts office building and write out checks like many of us do 2 or 3 times a year but instead of turning them in, burning them in effigy instead.

Good gracious somebody in here needs to seriously lay off the 'net for a little while.
No sarcasm.

That's what I'm trying to do by not having to read the next 207 pages to get caught back up.:loco:

I will only feel a little stupid for reading the first 50 pages if we don't get Gruden.:p

I love these smiley faces.:)

Its funny because on this site everyone seems to have turned a little negative, but on TOS, tonight seems to be more active than last night. People saying, that they are def hearing something will happen Monday. A few different people saying they are hearing 8 year 51 million...lol...who knows..lots of rumours

The players, the university , or the fans deserve another cordinator.. we need a a proven coach a winner.. not a saban deciple.. its already gotten us in a deep hole..

We are one in the same. As fans we all spend at great deal of time, money and emotions in to this. Not to mention the experience we share and build with our children. My 10 yr old almost cried over the loss to msu.

I was yelling like a frustrated madman during the second half of the UF game.
I have also never been to a UF game at Neyland that didn't involve sitting behind a UF fan.

I have been to UF and @UGA this year. Going to Columbia. Athens and Columbia are easier trips for me. I might go to the Missouri game, because I'll be in Charlotte the next day to watch PM. A detour to Knoxville has the same requirements I outlined for the KY game.

Regarding children, I could not believe how many fathers were wearing UT clothes to the UF game and had a young son wearing a Tebow UF jersey. Perhaps part of that was to shield their kids from catching grief from UF fans.

I hope your child's loyalty and faith are rewarded soon.

Regarding this thread, I predicted before the season that a loss to Florida would send us right into the coaching search rumors.
