I don't think I'm buying this... and if it is true, I don't like it.
The AD should let the football coach handle his players the way he wants. If the coach feels it is necessary to call out a player in the media, then it is necessary. The AD has much bigger issues to concern himself with than what the coach says to reporters about the players that he sees everyday in practice/film room/on the field.
Basically, you could be as much as an insider as OCI if you were willing to subscribe to pay sites and spend your time scouring other websites and forums for info. What makes people upset is that he likes to act as if he has the inside track on information. Plus, some people believe OCI is an alias for a former poster on here that became a huge joke after an infamous love letter to a prospective recruit as well as claiming media credentials on his quest to become an insider.
Personally, I take everything he posts with a grain of salt, so to speak. But don't take my word for it, I drink.
He's never been HC of a college team. Googled him and I can't see what everyone is so excited about him. Ok he won a super bowl. One super bowl. Doesn't mean he can coach at college level or win in the SEC.

If you mess up at work would it be ok for your boss to call you out in the media? Remember, these kids aren't in the NFL.
Gruden's representation will use the UTk job to get the best NFL deal. Gruden belongs in the NFL.
Sorry to rain on your parade, and you can ridicule me all you want if I am wrong.
Dumb argument. If they can handle the praise and adoration they get from fans they have to be able to accept the criticism that comes with it when they don't perform well. If that criticism comes from a coach then so be it. They are all big boys.
