I'm hardly the first to say this but I've been asked about it a ton. Jon Gruden will not be the HC at UT. Definitive no and we are moving on. There were always hurdles to hire him. We tried to go over, under and around those hurdles but it is not going to happen in the end. This is NOT a failure by UT administration. It just comes down to a guy that does not want to coach college football. There is no reason to be angry, downtrodden or depressed about this. There are very good football coaches who are interested in coming here. We need to celebrate that truth and get ready for the next opportunity to be a great football program again. I would also caution listening to anyone who claims AD sources in all of this. Any talk is coming from boosters and other coaches. Currie isn't leaking anything. That means that info is going to be hard to come by, even for the very best of journalists

pretty sure Beav said it would be like this and at the last minute the AD would swoop in and save the day. Smoke screen!

Hold tight. I think all this "he turned us down" stuff is an attempt to slow the leaks. I don't think they want to announce anything until after the LSU game to not distract the team and interim staff. Ideally, I don't think they want to announce till the season is over, but that may change. Look for tons of "he turned us down, we didn't offer, we didn't want him, etc" type BS articles to come out today and tomorrow. Grude himself may even say he's not interested (which he hasn't yet, and that alone gives big hope). Remember how many times Saban said from behind a podium he was not coming to AL?
Until they trot someone else to the presser we are all Grude in here! We are resilient, we show resolve, ok that sounds like Butch, I'll tell my own self to STFU and GTFO now!

If nothing coming out of the AD, then how does he have the detailed information of what went wrong and wasn't a failure by the administration??

This scenario is exactly the one we heard in 2012. Gruden said no. They up the ante. Gruden says yes. He wants big $$$$ for his own slam dunk assistants. Tennessee tells him no. He tells Tennessee no.

Rinse rumor and repeat 5 years later.

Its all hogwash anyway.


I know he aint coming. Why would he? Really.

Silly Rabbits. Gruden is for NFL.
