I look at Meyer going to OSU. He backed out of his weekend game before the day he announced. Gruden is still doing the MNF game in Seattle as far as I can see. I see no way that he is both HC at UT and doing MNF. So, IMO done deal or not, we will not hear an announcement until Tuesday at the earliest.

Urban backed out because “that” game was OSU V MICHIGAN and having already accepted the OSU job, he wasn’t going to chance any problems whatsoever.

Another dynamic at work: waves in a kiddie pool. Wave starts in one place as a circular expansion, then hits the wall of the pool and starts reflecting back. Within seconds, there's this really complex pattern of peaks and troughs, almost impossible to believe it all started from one single pebble dropping into the water.

Like that, information in the local media, online chat rooms, and twitterverse is going out, reflecting off a wall, reflecting off another wall, and coming back to the source looking and sounding a little different. Seems like "corroborating evidence" to the original bit of news, when in fact is IS that original news, handled a few times..

...

And like a kiddie pool, there's a lot of pee and, umm, something else sloshing around in those peaks and troughs!

This whole mess is going to turn into a Grugasterous Grudageddon ... or perhaps it already is.

How is it a mess? Just because fans and internet trolls make garbage up and go nuts over it doesn't mean the admin and Currie are doing the same. They're likely doing due diligence, getting feedback on interest via agents and other backdrop channels. They will compile a list known only to those that need to know...likely Currie only. When the season ends, face to face interviews will begin. When we have our man, Currie will go to those he has to in order to get approval. Once inked, the fans will know. This Gruden "mess" as you put it has nothing to do with Currie or the search. Can't blame him for the fans fantasy and frustrations. Self inflicted IMO.

“At least 1 agent was contacted today to advance assistant discussions. Have heard at least 1 other was also contacted by a connected “lurker” on this board. Was additionally told that reports would surface over the next two days that he said no, but to not pay attention until otherwise told by specific people.

Obviously only know the first item to be fact, but I have not been told by an individual directly involved that “it’s over”.”

Ok so riddle me this. Gruden goes on a Seattle radio station(an ESPN one) and requests for the coaching search not to be brought up. Instead of just staying away from it though he does the whole spill about rocky top be the best song yada yada. Unprompted bringing up of Tennessee. I just don’t get it if he hasn’t accepted the job pretty much. If this is a University, fan base, and team that he loves why would he do that? Especially with his son being here another full year! He will put his son through living hell after doing that if it was simply to troll our fan base! So why would he do that?? That’s my question for everyone here? Would you put your son through hell just to troll? Don’t say he can just transfer either, because I’ve transferred from college and it’s an annoying long process especially if you have only one year left. My answer is he is probably taking the job, because he wouldn’t do that if he hadn’t. Especially if he truly loves Tennessee. What say you Grudenites?

Yes that is my assessment also. I was told 2 days ago by a student that has class w his son that he is being hounded by the masses now for info. Why flame the fire more w statements like I love that song

The radio hosts brought that up after Gruden got off the phone. That Gruden had told them before the interview not to ask him about the coaching search. That's where it came from.

Coasty I think you'll probably hear a NO from someone in Gruden's camp, but I'm not counting him out until Currie marches someone else to the podium. Buying time. Picked this up off the board but makes sense to me. We'll hear something either way from Currie after Vandy.
