Being the burger aficionado that you must be, what about Red Robin? Any good?

I've been at the Knoxville location a couple times. I liked the burger. The fries not so much. It's pricey.

Cookout was mentioned. I like the value of the place, but I tend to stick with the chicken sandwiches instead of burgers there.

I like Five Guys for the fries. For the burger, I tend to over-order condiments and it becomes a sloshy mess. In-and-Out has comparable fries. The burger there is different from what we're used to because it's a California vibe where the lettuce is prominent and such. I love that place, though, simply because it's a required stop if I go to Vegas.

I should also talk about Tommy's in LA. I was tipped to go there by a friend from LA, and he said to get the chili cheeseburger. I did. When I tell you something is nasty, believe me, that burger was nasty. Got a cool Dodgers cup out of it, though.

Have a listen. Its from today.

Ok, question for those in South Knox/ Northern Blount County in the '70's and '80's:

There was a non-chain burger place our by the airport on Old Maryville Pike, except that out there I think it was Old Knoxville Hwy?? Anyway, not on All-Kill-Ya Hwy, or at least I don't believe so.

It had amazing burgers that actually had flavor, and it began with what I call a Scrabble letter: Q, X, Y, or Z.

Xeno's? Completely making things up here in terms of names, but it was amazing. Went out of business.

Edit to add: maybe it WAS on Alcoa/ Airport Hwy. I don't think so, because it was sort of sleepy and slow, but Murrville Pike doesn't really feel right, either.

There was a Glico's, Is that it?

The original was in Antioch but he opened that one up too, about 6 months later he sold out and they opened about 5 more but it was never the same. Best burger I ever had, greasy but great.
you sure the little hole in the wall on 8th wasn't the original? Not doubting you I just thought the melrose one was 1st
