But didn't Jimmy say weeks ago that we would spend up to 6 million on the right hire? Now suddenly we aren't going to spend but can renovate the stadium for $340 million?

Jimmy. Hyams. Knows. Nothing... Period

Do not listen to anything he says about this coaching search. He only says what the AD tells him to say. He might as well be an extension of the AD.

This has taken over my life. I'm useless at work, I forgot to turn the dryer on earlier so my clothes are still wet, and I've limited myself to one 30 minute lunch break so I can continue refreshing the #Grumors.

Get a life, man. I've been sitting on the toilet with the shower running for well over an hour. Wife thinks I'm watching the hub, I don't need an hour for that.

If Mullen was the #1 target.. we would have heard something out of Starkville by now. It's a small town. You can't get in and out of there without everyone knowing.

Also, MS State is paying him 4.5M. It would take a raise to get him to leave, and State would probably be willing to match up to 5-5.5M to keep him. I don't see us shelling out 6M+ for Mullen. He's not worth anywhere near that much. Not by a long shot.

That's part of what I don't get about Jimmy saying the UTAD wasn't willing to pay enough to get Fuente but thinks Mullen is the top candidate.

You said 2008, which isn't "semantics". In 2008, we could of had any coach we wanted.

By "semantics", I meant that depends on how you refer to "two searches ago"... Two searches ago would include 2010 and 2012 is what I meant... and we could have had Patterson in 2008 and for all you know, we could still have him. The state of the program is better now than 5 years ago.

Is Currie the one that shakes hands around the 25 second mark??

Objectively, that doesn't look like a University of Tennessee crowd at all.

Mainly because the focal point of all that activity is the older fellow with grey hair, dark blue jacket, and khaki pants who is escorted to the right rear seat of the SUV by a younger woman. He's the rock star of that manifest, and he's certainly not Currie.

[always look for the guy who doesn't have to carry any bags, for whom people open doors, and who gets an escort]

I think that flight had nothing to do with the coaching search, just as folks who work for the company that owns the plane tried to tell us a few hours ago.

Yep.

I did all my flying in old taildraggers.1930's-40's vintage. It became an instinct to always know where an unplowed field was, preferably without power lines.

--Jet A would be used for the turboprops, no?

That's awesome! I love taildraggers.

I'll never forget my CFI telling me "Andy, if you find yourself with total power loss at night, glide down to 500 feet and turn your landing lights on. If you don't like what you see, turn em off and crash in the dark."

Pilot humor :)

Exactly. No matter what UT offers Miss St. can match it. 8-4 at Miss St...he can coach there forever.
