Report: Tennessee in Heavy Pursuit of Jon Gruden | Rocky Top Insider

According to multiple reports, Tennessee has increased their pursuit of Jon Gruden to become the Vols’ next head football coach.
Both John Brice, a former 247Sports writer, and current 247Sports writer Grant Ramey reported that Tennessee athletic director John Currie flew down to Tampa Bay sometime Wednesday and were there during the night and into Thursday. Both alleged that Currie was down there to make a pitch to Gruden to be the Vols’ next head football coach.


Brice and Ramey aren’t the only ones reporting this, however. Trey Wallace of The Read Optional, a reporter who helped break the news about the Florida Gator football players being arrested and Jim McElwain being fired as Florida’s head coach, has reported the same information.

I believe Currie is going to make this happen. Gruden will be the next HC of TN. The energy level is going to be so high we may actually have a full house for the spring game.

Trey Wallace just said on 104.5 that he has reason to believe that Gruden is still in Tampa and that a member of the Tennessee contingent is still with him.

He said we will know for sure on if he has accepted the job within 48 hours.

Sunday or Monday...I think Currie keeps the boys focused for Saturday. Gruden still in Tampa IMO

In 2012 after Gruden basically said he never considered the job I melted down! He could have come out earlier and said that but didn't. I couldn't even watch him announce on tv for a long time after that. I didn't want to hear his name. Now I am sucked back in!!!! Can't believe this. And he will not say "No I am not interested in the TN job" and mentions us on a radio show today. If he really don't want to take this job what he is doing is horrific to us as a fan base and I will never watch him announce again. If he considered it but turns us down I hope he explains and with a good reason so we can rest about his decision. If he accepts the job I will worship the man as our leader! I have now set myself up for a huge let down or sky high experience as a life long Vol fan. Sure hope it goes right this time.
