Well newsflash, we hire Gruden and Saban is back next year, we have 2nd best until Gruden beats Saban.

I saw someone yesterday who had been with a major-ish booster (only has 1 jet...hahaha) the day before. The guy had shown him the list that had been provided to him from the AD. #1 was jimbo, #10 was "some NFL DC that they just threw on there to throw people off." Frost was on there close enough to the top to make an impression on the person I was speaking with. I asked about Mullen. The answer was, "bottom half of the list." Then, without prompting he said, "of course, this is all outside of gruden."

I never let him see my tinfoil hat.

Bottom line...STOP TALKING ABOUT MULLEN!!!

But recruiting skyrockets to gain parity in talent. X and Os I’m taking Gruden.
All he needs is time.
Only weekends with JG is that we will need an assassin at DC

Gruden morning! Another Gruden filled day ahead of us. To all the night shifters, just stay calm and stay the course. Jimmy Hyams is in the dark on this like mostly everyone else, so basically he has no idea. His feelings are he wants to be right, and it’s easier to say it’s not happening. He’s a fool. I personally am keeping an eye and ear out for today...IMO nothing would pump a football team up more to beat LSU then to know Gruden is coming!

If he is still in the MAYBE stage, give him Monday as a drop dead deadline. If no, Then, go get Patterson, if possible.

Agreed. I can't see what's to lose by announcing soon. If it is done like some say, then it's stupid to spend the time and energy (and $) to keep it quiet with "smokescreens". IF it's going to happen, get it done in next couple of days or move on imo. If a guy needs this much time to think about it, then I'd be nervous about it anyway. It's not like he is shocked by the offer. If my "dream job opens (again) and comes after me (again, reportedly), then I'm taking care of loose ends so I can get to work. The last 2 weeks of major CFB coverage would be a prime time to get out there and make most of his media/celebrity status. He will need every day he can considering MNF has a few games left and his ESPN duties wil take up a few days a week. Every day counts.

Okay, let's look at the timeline rationally, if that's an option. It could happen today. If not today, it is unlikely to be before next Tuesday. Like it or not, Gruden is expected to be in Seattle for MNF. There is a remote possibility it could happen Sunday, but that seems unlikely based on the commitments I assume he has in conjunction with MNF. Mostly what I'm saying is that I wouldn't look to Monday being a drop dead date. I'd look at tuesday.

Apologies for the early morning ramblings: I’ve got a one-month-old Vol fan that’s keeping me and the Mrs. in zombie mode

I’ve lurked anonymously on the boards since 09 and been a VN guy since 12. In that time I’ve sorted through the trolls, Lovie Smith’s plane, Charlie Strong’s 100%, the elation of Kiffin’s hire, and the anarchy of The Night of the Burning Matresses (in fact I was on campus for the latter). Through all of that I’ve come to trust one poster above all others and thaf’s AV. Correct me if I’m wrong, but AV said if Gruden gives a hard no, he would be back to let us know, right? So until I hear it from him, I’m 100%.

My thought process is Sunday following LSU or Tuesday. Theoretically, we lose to LSU and our bowl chances are gone. Thats the only thing holding all of this back. There's nothing to worry about being overshadowed at that point. We have one last week of football and Gruden will recruit next week and be here for the big official visitor weekend. *hopefully.

What I don't understand, sorry WAY behind this morning, is if one steps back and takes a look at what has transpired over the life of this thread, how can you not be all in? For me, just too many bits of info not too. If it doesn't come to pass, it will have a really bad look nationally with the info out there. As a Vol fan, how can you not be pulling for it to happen. Plan B would really suck IMHO....

IF Gruden is a done deal, I don't think they announce until after the Vandy game due to coaches still in season. If a guy like Tee is gonna be on staff. That would be disrespectful to announce during season in my opinion. I don't see what the harm in announcing Gruden until then unless it has something to do with ESPN. he could name his staff at a later time. I am not sure what happened overnight but it seems there is some down people on twitter. What happened to change the tone from yesterday afternoon?

So how much truth is there to gruden saying no... i seen it lastnight, and to get off here i was gonnna explode in a rage of anger.... but im calm now.. lol
