SIAP,
The following was posted on Facebook just now by Stacey Campfield (ex-senator):
"NEWS FLASH!!
Okay I was wrong.
My sources have now told me that UT has been in communication with Jon Gruden. And the talks are very serious about Gruden taking the head coaching job at the University of Tennessee for football.
Supposedly the talks started in earnest about a week ago at Morton's in Nashville when Gruden was in town for the Titans game.
John Curry, Beverly Davenport , Jon Gruden and his agent had a private room dinner to work out numbers and contract variables. The number I am hearing is up to 11 million dollars per year with incentive bonuses in a five-year contract.
The hard sticking point has been pay for Coordinators and became so contentious that Gruden actually got up to leave at one point and was yelling about coming into a "dumpster fire" without real help.
As Gruden turned to leave, Currie tried to get out in front of him and calm him down but somehow got tangled up in the chairs and fell down. Not giving up he grabbed Gruden's ankle and started to plead with him to stay while pulling on his leg just like I'm pulling on yours with this story."
LWS also told us that Fulmer had been hired as AD, so it's not like even he is always right. There is definitely more smoke than in 2012 and given that, it is a little strange that it hasn't been shot down yet. Both sides know how much noise is out there. You can call it being gullible if you want but for those of us who would like to see Gruden hired, there is nothing wrong with holding out hope until we receive word from either Currie or someone in the Gruden camp. If it bothers you so much, don't read the thread. :hi:
