I've never gotten close enough to one to discern their parental influence, or lack thereof.
This isn't a mommy/daddy issue, it's an "attention and getting their jollies off" issue. The more oxygen/fuel you give a fire, the bigger and faster it grows.
Dont you think with Currie we should also not hang on anything LWS or Deerpark says ? Asking for a friend 😊
So now we're in the Quiet Time.
Supposedly, the negotiations, agreements, and contract work are all done. Papers are filed. Moving companies contracted in a dozen different towns. Current bosses are being quietly notified, and affairs put in order. The date of The Announcement has been set (though we are not privy to that detail); media will be informed and invited about 24-48 hours out.
And so we wait.
There is still room for information to filter down to us, like names of coordinators and assistant coaches. But perhaps the lid is on tight enough that we won't even hear much of that in advance.
We will almost certainly see light bulbs coming on over the heads of various national and local media types as they finally discover what we already know. A few will eat the crow dinner they richly deserve; but most will spread the revelation out over time, will try to make their u-turn slowly enough that they can pretend they were pointing in the right direction all along.
...
At this point, it's all about the right timing.
How's that defined? You and I don't know, though Currie and his team do. Some things we can be pretty sure of: it is not dependent on the final two games--the timing is not going to change with a win here or a loss there. And (much as many of us would enjoy this) nor is it contingent upon a Florida announcement. Our news is so big, it is going to upstage anything Florida has, no matter what order or how much time passes between the two press conferences. Currie is not concerning himself with Florida.
So we wait.
Should be fun.
Go Vols!
Thanks for what you do bring here. I don't think everyone understands how fluid these situations are. Keep doing what you are doing. Most of us ubderstabd and really appreciate it. Also, I hope your son is doing better. One more thing on the trolling issue...if I was planning on trolling, I never would have posted easily verifiable information about my son playing football, his progress with the team, or his health. Ive never hidden it...in fact many are aware of Ainge calling my son and myself out on the radio a couple of weeks back. I'm probably one of the easiest people to figure out my identity on here. I hope that doesn't happen, but if it does I'll simply be proud that you know who my son is.
Take that from what it's worth, and apply it to WHY somebody would pour cold water on all of this.
You tell me. If Jon is hired and doesnt win big right away they media will be all over running negative stories, on the other hand if he comes and wins big in the first year there will be positive national stories. Either way it will be a circus.
Well you need to re-examine your deepark stance. I felt the sameway in 2012 and that is why i spoke up more this go around. I am no insider. I am an outsider.
Even some of the OK sports radio shows are talking about Gruden lol
Was listening on my way to work and they were talking about coaching vacancies for this year and the possible ones going into the off season. When "what do you think of the rumors of Gruden to Tennessee?" came up, the response was funny.
"I don't think that happens, but I believe it's the part of me that doesn't want it to happen that's overriding my brain. Nobody wants Gruden at Tennessee...except Vol fans. He's the kind of coach that can, and probably would, reset the SEC power base."
The other guy mentioned "yeah, but he's never been in college, never recruited, blah, blah, blah." To which:
"The guy won't have to recruit. You think Nick Saban worries about recruiting? No, he says 'hi, I'm Coach Saban and are you interested in playing football for me?' and gets a staff member a sit down with a recruit. Gruden could do the same thing on his name alone."
Dey scurred out here in Okiehoma.
I agree .... it has gotten to where everything I post is twisted by someone..... I am fully in favor of Gruden but am beginning to think I need to back off this thread for a while.... I tried to post and tell Boro exactly what you posted but I think it went unnoticed ... He may have me on ignore... I am sure others do...
I am not upset with anyone and have NOT called anyone by name except the night DTO posted about Tampa Bay.
At any rate ... I certainly see what you mean... my thoughts are now at 50% on Gruden and we will see
HOPE WE GET HIM
I think it depends on which way the wind blows with you doesnt it? You wear me out at times.
