Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

Since this is the official Jon Gruden thread...I'm gonna put this here, then DUCK..!!!
I just don't see the reason for all the "Gruden worship".
I don't find the kind of Head coaching experience IN COLLEGE that justifies the over-the-top excitement some folks have about this guy.
There's no question, we're going to pay millions of dollars for a top coach, so perhaps we need to look at what we are hiring if it's Gruden.
NCAA head coach record: NONE
NCAA recruiting record: NONE
OK...Pro record...???
Looks like he has been the very fortunate successor to a couple of good teams already built by someone else. When he did build a good team, it looks a lot like he went out with his bosses checkbook and bought it by finding the best free agents available and paying them whatever it took to come on over.
That's not recruiting great kids all while operating within NCAA rules...that's hiring mercenaries in a league with VERY few restrictions (relative to NCAA recruiting rules).
Just my opinion, and worth what you paid for it.

Don't forget that hubbs is State radio. State radio does not want this to leak out before they are ready to announce it. State radio had to walk it back a bit. Don't take anything that hubbs said negatively. In my opinion there's more positive news in that statement then negative.
Look for more misdirection and smoke screens Then. BOOM

I'm sure Hubbs is given nuggets by UT that are intended for misdirect. Not necessarily untruths, but more like "we have so and so on a list we're looking at". Misdirects. JMO

Isn't he a very respected poster? Has Hutch said anything more as well? Im more leery after bcarters posts last night lol! Hopefully Hargis will give some more info about the meeting last night. And while I agree with a poster who said he was concerned that we are pushing Gruden to decide- we aren't in the situation now where he can take weeks and weeks. If he is genuinely wanting to be our coach the time is now.

Which is why I said small boom....the only BIG BOOMS I’m giving at this point are Hargis and Blackburn. We can’t stray too far from them and their situations.

I have a feeling that yesterday was a huge day for Volnation.
I also believe that by this time next week we will all be in a much more happy and stable place.
Of course, I know nothing and could be wrong.

I like your attitude, anyway. Well, in this post. Must be specific here.

I think Gruden is locked, but don't listen to BabyVol. He screams wanting attention IMO.

Thank you! We may have Gruden, who knows. Babyvol is vague, never gives details, and is always flaky with dates with the off chance he may be right. It doesn't take much to realize this.

That is a big concern for me. I can't stand the state run media, but for them to be 100% off the train is starting to say something, to me anyway.

If I'm the AD, I would at least have someone at the flagship station clued into some of my activities.

Unless there is a gag order in effect from the AD.

IMO, the reason we are seeing differing opinions from the media is because, for the most part, they get their information from the AD. Currie is not putting out anything concrete, so that leaves the media to guess. They guess on the safe side of Gruden not coming. If he does, then they can always change their opinions.

Good point! I also think that Currie has locked down the flow of information. Remember in his presser he said “Don’t believe anything that doesn’t come from me.”.

Hmmm how wrong could I be... lol

Just shows folks that trusting my ability to figure something out is not wise :)

Lol I took it like, well...at least we know different VFL players and they all think alike....zipper lips when it comes to the UT Football Fraternity

If there's anything to hold the Gruden Train back, what is it?

Hargis: Pre-wedding jitters, cold feet. He's doing his homework to be sure he has the staff, assistants, and otherwise, to have success here. He wants to be sure if he takes this job, by God, he's going to be successful. Because he loves Tennessee. He won't do it if he can't do it right. This is a huge commitment, so that'd be my best way to answer it from the information I've been able to get.

Paraphrasing here.
