Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

For the people accusing everyone of being trolls... think about what you’re saying... All these people, who have been on VN for years and have well known profiles... Are making all of this up just for their own entertainment? I could understand if it were a bunch of new profiles that had never posted before, which is why so many people doubted MIT at first... UNTIL he was vouched for by another well known poster.

I’m sure there are some trolls in this thread, but these long time members with profiles dating back 5+ years and have 10,000+ posts are obviously not trolls. They may be getting inaccurate information, but they’re not deliberately trying to deceive anyone. They bring the information they get from their sources. It’s entirely possible that their sources are wrong, which they openly acknowledge...

Just because you can’t go verify every word they say doesn’t mean they’re making it up, or that it’s incorrect. Many of the details around this coaching hire will never be made public.. so the information you get here may be all you ever get. It’s not like once Gruden is hired, Currie will write a book detailing every step of the process. We’ll get the announcement and that’s it. Everything that is being speculated now will still be speculation even after Gruden is hired. We will never know for sure how it all went down because none of us were directly involved in the process.

I tend to agree, but if there's one thing I've learned about the internet, it's that it's full of people with their own weird/sick pleasures in life.

I can agree to that, but this forum is a very minute portion of social media. There are much larger stages out there to get their message across, Facebook, twitter, and the other large vol football forums.

Why just post here? We are the period at the end of this sentence compared to the audience they could have.

This forum was targeted for a reason. And it wasn't to disclose business dealings.

Maybe since this is a free sure and has a broader spectrum of the fan base they thought this would be a good place to plant a few seeds to germinate and spread.

I'm not into conspiracy theories but there was a purpose behind it.

Someone brought up the fact that Blackburn quit and didn't take another job and has been silent up until now. That does seem odd.

If there is a 20 or 30 year plan then we have no idea when it was implemented. It could have started months or even years ago.

But by who? Ergen? The Andersons? A coalition of boosters tired of one family (Haslams) calling the shots and leveraging a power shift?

Who knows, it's above my paygrade. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I just try to apply common sense to what I read and there are some glaring questions that will never be answered.

You are absolutely correct to have your BS meter up and are totally right to call them out for all of this. They don't know anything. Boro, DTO, and most of all Beav. They know nothing. Everything they have said is super vague and unprovable and always leaves an "out" of some sort. It has been hilarious to watch some people here hang on every word they say. The fact of the matter is there are a very select few people who know what is actually going on behind the scenes and they are not posting anything here.

I mean, come on. Venture Capital? 20-30 year plans? If you are going to BS people at least don't be moronic about it.

I saw it. You sure?

Pill you deleted it!! What?!?

It's what I was told, but frankly I don't believe it will be possible now. There's no chance in hell that it will be kept under wraps that long.

I was told that no matter what happened today the AD wanted to give the current staff the LSU game with zero distractions. They've frankly been through hell, and in many ways the LSU game is their interview to the football world. If they can put together a good gameplan and field a team that clearly looks motivated, most of them should land on their feet. With the amount of chatter we're seeing, I can't imagine it won't get leaked/announced before this weekend.

Yes Metro areas are nice but I'm not a fan of Tampa itself like you except New Tampa area only which is mostly brand new and nice. Channelside is nice too.

Agreed, may parts of area are fantastic. Took a route leaving Columbia Restaurant in Ybor one evening that was a bit questionable to say the least. I do enjoy visits to Tampa.

So this almost guarantees a Beav sighting or an Atlanta Vol
Drive by to keep us up another hour. So if it happens like usual you can thank me or kindly tell me to GTFO. Lol

I’m sure that date was the original plan but **** got real really quick.

Still could see it as the latest possible date right now though.

I'm sure it won't be kept under wraps, but that could be the date they actually put him behind a podium? Leaks before then?

So you’re thinking what? Friday?

Regarding fake insiders on this board. Of course there are. It’s the Internet. The odds of ~15 people having direct inside information that regularly post on this forum is laughable. I have been, and remain, a skeptic to almost everything posted on here - regardless of how “vetted” some folks seem to be.

But. Use some common sense here. Before Butch was fired, there was virtually nothing to go on that we could concretely believe as truthful regarding Gruden. Then we had the Currie smile at the PC. Then we had Trey Wallace (who’s broken large stories) say there was interest. Now we have Hargis (who has a lot to lose if he’s wrong) saying the same things with direct quotes. Clay Travis (Love him or hate him - though more of a shock jockey than a journalist, he HAS to know some people involved in this) tweeted earlier he believes Gruden will be the next coach. Now we also have numerous UT players tweeting “nudge nudge wink wink” type things regarding our next coach. Either all of these people are pathological liars, bored, and just generally awful people intent on trolling the fanbase by spreading each other’s lies ...

Or

Something is happening.

Worth a bump.

Ok Squints, try this wrinkle on for size.

Most agree that Fulmer has been very active behind the scenes in trying to 1) reform the way our football program is run, and 2) get Gruden.

Blackburn resigned at UTC on June 14, 2017. Fulmer was appointed special advisor for athletics on June 20, 2017.

Fulmer stated at time of hire that he had NO animosity for John Currie, and would work well with him. Blackburn said the exact same thing in today's article.y

Lots of coinkydinks here, IYAM.

I hope Blackburn gets rewarded for his loyalty to the Vols!
