Gruden or not I have learned a TON over the last few days about Butch and it is not pretty. Amazing how someone could be such a great nice guy on one hand then be able to flip a switch apparently. I still wish him the best because, as a person, that is the right thing to do but I would not be surprised to really start hearing some more huge negatives in the off season. Even those that spoke highly of him, at least those I know, are now starting to sing a different tune. I also know Antone and have for quite some time and he would not walk away from a 70k a year job over nothing. To some people 70k a year is not a lot of money but to many it is a dream. Especially doing what he loved for the school that made it possible and he dropped it and left. I am amazed how wrong I was about the "Butch was a great man but a bad coach" theory. We should have talked to more Cincinnati people after firing a control freak that was a horrible game day coach and found out we were hiring the exact same thing with better sales skills.

I hope I was equally wrong about our chances of getting Gruden to be the 24th HC of the Vols. I haven't really given it much credence until the last couple weeks. I actually believe it to be better than a 50-50 shot of it happening. Please....one time!

Selfishly, I need this deal to be done soon because there is a lot of work I need to get done before the holidays. My productivity has taken a severe hit the last couple of weeks.

FYI, knuck only said "confirmed" to babyvol's post. I believe that I was the first one who said that knuck confirmed a team player meeting, as opposed to a playa players meeting. That was my mistake, as I interpreted babyvol's post incorrectly, and that should not reflect on knuck.

Per friend who's a UT student:

"I’m in class with 8 football players including Vickers, Chandler, McBride and others and they were saying that Hoke is kicking them into shape. They said that they are shelling up for yesterdays practice. They made it sound like they haven’t been hitting in practice under jones. An offensive lineman in my class says that he hasn’t pushed a sled since high school as well. Hoke is making them run 30-40 plays at the end of practice first team vs first team. Jones was only having them run 5."

I get that all the time as well. I think they scared believe it or not. Just like the ones i Know that are talking up Auburn so big. I am telling them I am a darn Tennessee fan and I have more confidence than they do heading into a big game.

No offense but if you're in a class with 8 D1 football players not playing in the Ivy League......well..midterms were probably finger paintings..

If this is true, we should be refunded that 8 million based on coaching malpractice.
