Cause Currie is headed to Tampa to meet him. He had no reason to be in Charlotte yesterday. Plus he was rumored to be in Knoxville yesterday, which was also false.

All American Air Lines fights from Knoxville to Tampa connect in Charlotte. The 11am daily flights stop in Charlotte around noon. State law requires flying the least expensive way possible for all employees. So I could see that as being why Currie was in Charlotte.
