a member of the bot whom i have a business relationship with stated the following. He never said the name gruden, but did say the name patterson in reference to the backup plan.

  • they said that the ad believes they have their man but there are still a few small obstacles.
  • no contract has been officially signed, however an mou was written and agreed upon on 11/3, and was signed on 11/12 during a meeting in asheville.
  • there are a few small issues that are currently being worked out. These issues have less to do with ut, and more to do with the coach in question.
  • the coach has certain expectations for his staff and if he can't meet them then the ad feels like he will back out. This seems to be a major concern.
  • bot member said there is one issue regarding his contract but wouldn't go into detail and i didn't push. They made it seem like it's a recent development in the past 1-2 days.
  • i asked and they said they think 2 assistants are being kept by the new coach.
  • if anything falls through with this coach then the ad will pursue patterson.
  • they said currie met with patterson face to face recently and "it was positive".

If he's on campus then I believe all obstacles have been overcome. Expect more leaks coming out tomorrow. Not sure what hang ups with staff would be except maybe him wanting to possibly keep someone already here,or maybe Sanders whose rumored to be here also.

This. Wondering how old pills news is.

It is, and has been for a while, just a matter of timing. Expect more ups and downs in the coming days. But it's happening.

I wonder what the expectations for the staff would be?

Better give him what he freaking expects is all i know.

Me likes Patterson as an runner up

You think that maybe he has certain people in mind and that’s who he wants and if he don’t get them, he won’t come? Wish we knew. We could send Ape after them. Make them an offer they can’t refuse

Thanks for posting. This is interesting to say the least. Patterson is definitely a very good coach. So one has to wonder, if he is the backup, who its the #1 guy? There cannot be that many coaches in CFB that would be above Patterson imo. The obvious one being Saban, Meyer and Dabo. But those guys are not being considered. Man this stuff is mind boggling.

You serious, Clark?

Thanks

I could see that. It'd be hard to imagine someone that Patterson would play 2nd fiddle to, having any trouble putting an ACE staff together of almost anyone he wanted as long as UT forks over the $$$. The white whale especially.

I hope this deal dont get d**** up.

Thanks for the info pill. :good!:

Bro,it's Jon gruden he understands believe me haha

Pill does point 4 reference that he might back out if certain people don't agree to join the staff or is this a money/contract for assistants issue? As in he would want his assistants to have certain years on contracts, buyouts etc? UT just better give him whatever he wants and get this done.

Sounds like there is some major work to be completed on that agreement. You would have thought those things would have been worked out before it got to this level.

If he hasn't yet pulled together the staff he wants, you can hardly blame the UTAD for that. I would think this is a very recent step. He wants his ducks in a row before signing, which includes staff.

I would be disappointed in either of these hires if that was the case.

And so it starts :):):)

I said earlier that guys would start pissing and moaning when the new coach hired his staff.

This is gonna be fun to watch that meltdown.

Just be happy guys---damn :lolabove::lolabove:

I, for 1.7 seconds, allowed the thought about the future with Gruden as our coach. It was too much for me. I had to settle back into the present.

I'm going to trust that Gruden knows what he is doing, but I can't say I am sold on a staff of former vols. Of course it depends on who it is. I know it is important to get VFLs back on the hill to teach these kids, but I'd like to see the best coaches possible involved and that may not always be a VFL.

Maybe Fulmer is pushing these guys and going to screw it up

Kiner did not say that. Kiner was asked "What do you think about Ole Miss, they have a lot of horses?". Kiner said, " you don't know the difference between a horse and a mule."
He did not sat Archie who

I had a Sr Moment

Hypothetical Situation:

Let's say I have a business relationship with someone on the BOT and that BOT member tells me some info regarding the coaching situation. If I was to leak that info here, does anyone think the info could be traced back to the BOT member and get him/her in trouble?

I would keep it to myself.

With it approaching 9 pm in Knoxville, I’m goin with no announcement tonight.

I would love it if the AD did something so out of character, like a tweet at 2:47 a m saying Gruden is the new coach. Details to come later.

That would be a true baller move and completely take the air out of Kelly to Florida news.
