And we have no control on what Florida does so why care if we came in here to speculate. Well come out and throw up with you when Mr Google is announced. Until then, this has sadly been the only bright spot in this miserable season.

exact quote for those who missed it. Golic asked about coaching rumors to tennessee ...

Gruden:
"well you know mike, i haven't talked to anybody and all i really have in my life is my family and football - that's about it. And, uh, i'm real sensitive to the coaches that are out there coaching so i don't speculate.

I just love football. I'm trying to hang on to the job i have. I'm very fortunate to be with the people i'm with. Uh, i don't know what's gonna happen in the future - i just know this: I'm gonna continue to give my best effort to the game ... Stay prepared and uh ... I love monday night football. Don't plan on leaving, but as you know in life, you never say never to nothin'."

It's a polite pass on UT and a I'm open for the right place for me somewhere else

I just disagree with that assessment. Again, I'm not an insider nor do I claim to be. But it's like I tell my students when we're doing research, look at the facts. Did he say no? No he did not. In 2012 he flat out said something to the effect of "I love the University of Tennessee but I'm not interested nor will I coach there." This was the perfect opportunity to say the exact same thing, but instead he told a flat out lie, which again everyone knows is a lie. I'll repeat, when you have men and women whose paid jobs include finding information--validated information at that--about said subject, reporting that he has in fact spoken with people, that's a contradiction. So either he is throwing smoke or they all suck at their jobs and need to either A) be fired or B) call out their sources for making them look like buffoons. I just don't see where that interview can be taken as "well it's over everyone, pack up the Gruden threads and go home. Looks like (insert Google Name Here) is coming to UT and we're screwed!"

The man said absolutely what he had to say in regards to Tennessee. ESPN is not going to break the news at 7am on a Wednesday.

He specifically did not say he isn't interested, he did specifically say "You never say never to Nothing."

If JG->UT was a done deal behind the scenes--or even if they were just close to a deal--do you think he'd allow the question to even be asked? Would ESPN allow it?

At the least, I think this morning's interview should have us leaning toward "there may be talks, but a deal isn't very close".

JMHO

Interesting that he was asked specifically about the Tennessee job and then cited respect for the sitting coaches as the reason he won’t speculate - when Tennessee has already fired their coach.

Actually there are sitting coaches at UT at the moment. Interim HC, coordinators the works. He’s respecting who is on staff now. Atleast that’s what I took from that

Maybe but I sort of look at it as, if they didn't ask at all...it would fuel more speculation
