Did you all catch what Trey said about Gruden contacting a former UT coach about coming back? Dont know if it is the reports about Chavis we've heard or if it could be Fulmer or someone else?

I know for a fact Chavis would not come back. Straight from the man himself

PAGING KNUCK AND SARA...I appreciate the raise, but I'm still at the office. Can we expedite my work-from-home option sooner rather than later? Thank you

ESPN analyst Jon Gruden on returning to coaching: 'You never know'

People just don't want it to mean he's sticking with ESPN. They'll take it out of context and say, he said who knows, it's in his blood, and he has no guaranteed contract

“Well, I don’t know. It’s in your blood,” Gruden told Eisen. “You get some people calling, maybe to see if you’re interested in coaching again, and maybe if you can help recommend a couple guys. I’m pretty much involved with every level of football every day of the week, so I try to help if I can.
“And one of these days, who knows, Rich? One of these days, you never know. But I’m just trying to hang onto the job I have. As you know, I don’t have a guaranteed contract.”

I was here all through 2012 and bought it completely. Took a lot of guff from all the Bammers I live near that I mouthed off to being so sure it was happening.

I started reading the new threads 100 percent for entertainment only because there are such funny posters in here and it was a great escape from the season and D4H. Lol. But the more I read the more I have started to believe again. The fact that Bcarter has even started to waiver on his original thoughts says a lot to me. Either way, I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

P.S. I was Vonvol before. Had to start a new account because my phone died and couldn't remember my old Yahoo password that I had linked to my account. The backup email I had for that account was an AOL one. Hahaha! Talk about showing your age.

Mullen being our back up plan makes my stomach turn. That's not swinging for the fences.

Chris Petersen or Gary Patterson should be #2 and/or #3 to tell us no.

Anyone besides those 2 after Gruden, will be a huge let down to our program. A bad hire this time may very well completely leave us at Vandy status.

I don't want to re-hash the whole Mullen talk in the mighty Gruden thread...but you're daft if you think Mullen is a 'Vandy' level coach.

P.S. Vandy is likely to beat us this year

Tough guy, i like it.

Ive actually learned the exact opposite. Once a question is asked or statement made that isnt 100% Gruden worship, it is decended upon by all the worshippers and taken as a condescending attitude and other nonsense. Its similiar to what is commonly seen in cult mentality. When someone wants to believe something so bad, they will pounce on the slightest question of said belief.

But my comment wasnt originally made in this thread is was merged here. But i will say its been comical looking through it to see the depths that people will go to in an effort to convince themselves that he will be our next head coach.

I disagree about him coaching at UT but I appreciate your service none the less. Thank You.

And I don’t think he would go back to the NFL for a while, however I believe he would love to come here. I think he loves challenges, and this college thing would be new to him. I believe he will win here, and overcome the odds that some people thinks otherwise. A challenge for him is just another nickel being dropped in a bucket, passing with flying colors.

I've chosen to take it for what it is. UT has also been in touch with Jets DC Kacy Rodgers. But it's " just a smokescreen ". People only believe and hear what suits their agenda, or desires

If you think we are really going to hire Kacy Rogers then I have someone to introduce you to.

This is Mr. Santa Clause.

I honestly think the question is not an if Gruden coaches but where. The biggest factor in his decision will be Mrs. Gruden. If he goes to the NFL he travels a much greater distance for a much longer time. In a collegiate conference he will be in town and closer to home for majority of the away games.
