Official Jon Gruden Thread 33

Is there a dang way to keep them out of K-town. They are a pack of idiots and even gameday is getting bad IMO. I guess they run SEC network and we should be thankful to an extent but both of them run UT in the ground for the least little bit. I think they misperceive us as arrogant but that's not true. We're just tired of losing.

I really hate ESPN. And I really despise the peckerwoods that jump all over you for saying how crappy ESPN has treated UT over the years.

Hey Cooky I don't remember mods being around this late back in the old days. They used to have to spend an hour or two cleaning up our mess in the mornings 😁

That was kind of the highlight of my morning, to stumble in to the thread to people saying, “WTF happened in here last night?!”

I do remember Freak popping in a couple of times though, and having to break out the Febreeze and stashing the evidence.

Atlanta Vol, look outside your window..
Volnation needs a update.

I have seen a couple a post by few diff ppl who say Gruden is going back to ESPN. For those that didnt see my why Gruden will come to Tenn post. Here a few things you who say this need to not only know but understand.

1. ESPN once again announced another 100 Cuts to announcers and behind the scenes ppl at ESPN.
2. Jon Gruden is the highest paid NFL ESPN paid Commentator there, thats one of the main reason his job goes unless he takes a major pay cut. (Which He wont)
3. ESPN already announced Jon Grudens QB Camp for this year was scrapped due to money cuts.
4. Gruden said himself in interviews and on air he has NO CONTRACT with ESPN for next year.
5. The news it out about Gruden looking for Assistant Coaches for coaching at UT, FAKE, NO. Because the ones reporting he is looking are from the very ppl he has contacted.

You don't have to be a insider or have any sources if you just listen to whats out there and pay ATTENTION!!!!

Grumors there are many.

Also the facts are out there plain and simple from ESPN NFL and others. Open your eyes. No contract has nnot been signed Gruden is not our coach yet, but Gruden as of now is out at ESPN and MNF unless they themselves actually sign a new contract with HIM

MNF is going to another Network next year and unless they make a deal with Gruden or Gruden renews his contract with ESPN NFL he will not be there next year.

Haha!! Some of my UGA friends are so scared this is going to happen. They are tweeting the quote when Gruden said he would get a college in NCAA problems because there’s too many rules to keep up with.

When you can’t deny the Grumors anymore and can’t say he’s not a good coach, you’re left with the idea that he will get us in trouble. Can’t wait for Gruden to recruit against Kirby Smart. Good luck to them.

Get pass your fixation on Gruden. It's not going to happen. What part of that you don't understand? Move on and let's hire a better candidate...

ESPN Radio (sorry I don't know hosts name) just said fans and boosters are to blame for Butch's demise. Are people that blind or stupid that Butch sealed his own fate by being inept?

What about not winning a SEC game in over a full calendar year and having a losing streak to every team in the SEC including Tennessee. That's why he was fired, and the fans had nothing to do with that!

No update from AV is good. Said he'd go quiet until announcement if it really was Gruden, or something along those lines. So no news is good news in this regard.

I expect him to post as soon as Gruden is announced either way. I just hope if it does actually happen, that he gives us whatever dope he has about how it really went down.

For sure man. My Bama buddies just sent me a text with that same article attached. I sent them John Brices article about Gruden contacting potential staff members as well. Ain't got no return text yet! Day be scurd!

Very nicely done (IMO). I'm sure the participants can point out any discrepancies.

The only thing I would change would be your assessment of Peyton Manning's role and the impact it may have.

I would offer the following options relative to his role.
It could be any one of these; a combination; or none at all.

Observation: MIT mentioned in one of his earlier posts that (I am paraphrasing) Peyton had stepped up (or would step up) and taken one for the team in closing the deal.

1. Peyton agreed to support Bill Haslam in (a) any political endeavor or (b) any run at replacing Joe DiPietro as President of UT; [This provides a get for the Haslam side of the equation]

2. Peyton agreed to replace JG at ESPN's MNF; [This might mitigate any contractual obligations for both ESPN and JG]

3. Peyton agreed to take over JG's Corona spokesperson contract; [This helps mitigate any contractual obligation may have.]

4. Peyton agrees to take over operation of JG's FFCA operation.

JM thoughts.

5. Peyton agrees to take GM position with Cleveland Browns.

Thats why I hate ESPN. They have actively fed the UT is not a legitimate big time program narrative for 20 years now. Across all platforms.
