Official Jon Gruden Thread 33

The VQ staff has to be the most conservative team in the business. They are absolutely terrified of being wrong.

State radio. Terrible at moderating their forums. Bring no news anymore, probably the worst site of all anymore. Do a good job of providing a lot of content to read but they bring nothing of value, it's so regurgitated info and Brent is so conservative I'd classify him as negative

Jesse Simonton on VQ..

"Percentages are pure guesses. I think the Gruden stuff has more legs than it's had before, but it still remains a longshot per most folks."

ESPN is asking Jon Gruden to take a significant pay cut. He is definitely serious about leaving ESPN. That doesn't mean that he will end up at Tennessee, of course.

"I'm sitting at 10% now but still think it's a long shot"

Hell I am impressed he's giving it 10% given how conservative he is

10% chance BUT still thinks long shot? Those 2 things mean the same thing. He's trying hard.

good insightful post from TOS......JG's contract is not guaranteed FWIW

"as I’ve posted before, I am friends with a guy who announces SEC games for ESPN. He’s not a Tennessee fan, but obviously is closer to some of this than most folks. I have not checked in with him until tonight.

He had no idea on Gruden or anyone else, but did say the ESPN financial troubles are legit as everyone has seen in the news and the days of Gruden making $6mil+ are probably over. If ESPN did drop MNF, which is fairly likely, Gruden could easily get another gig at another network, but not anywhere near $6mil.

If Gruden wants to keep making $6-7mil, he’ll have to return to coaching. He may opt to make $2mil on Fox, who knows, but the financial situation is in fact much different today vs in the last few years. Not just 2012, but even last year when several decent NFL jobs were open.

Not groundbreaking, but more info on the situation being completely different than past Grumors."

Yes..they have the ability to monopolize streaming ESPN. The company they use they recently bought a majority share in. What am I missing?

You were talking about dish wanting to become the stream source so to speak. The infrastructure is there and close. Other than that, nothing

A clemson fan I know told me Gruden would never come close to beating Saban....

My response: he already has....October 16, 2005....Bucks vs Dolphins. 27-13...

Boom!

Soon....
