The people saying Gruden would not be a good hire because "he's been out of the game for so long" or "hasn't coached college" are just out of their minds. Let's think about this (calling all you negaGrudes):
1. This man has watched more game film from the highest level (NFL) than anyone else in the league. You hear him say time and time again during his MNF broadcasts about how you notice 'x' or 'y' on tape about the teams playing that night. The guy eats, drinks, and sleeps film/football. He knows what it takes to be successful, what works, how to break down a defense/offense, etc. This brings me to point number 2
2. This man consistently studies and breaks-down every major quarterback coming out of college and heading to the draft. He's done this more times in the last few years than I could probably count. Doing all of this, he's been able to see how his "grade" of a player translates to how good they've been in the NFL. So you don't think he knows an elite level player when he sees them? This brings me to point number 3
3. He knows an elite player when he sees one. His name and body of work alone would give him a 95% chance to recruit any player he wanted without even stepping into a living room. "Hey ESPN QB#1, I'm 'xyz', the recruiting coordinator for Tennessee, how would you feel about coming to Knoxville to play for Coach Gruden?" is an instant selling point.
Anyways, just wanted to say SOON
