Official Jon Gruden thread 32.

Whether we get Gruden or not this has been fun. I was 16 the last time we had a Gruden fest, being 21 for this one has made it that much better.

I was in college in the 2012, and I let it get to me as well. It was a complete distraction. This go around, I've taken a more reserved approach. I want Gruden, but I'll believe it when I see him standing at the podium.

Y'all have a good night have to be up in a few hours ... still up all thanks to that article ... smh ... today was one small step for mankind and one giant leap for volnation is coming up fellas...
Soon!!

Do people who keep spouting off about winning percentage not realize that the NFL, by design, is pretty much meant to make you 8-8. You will lose games in the league. Teams go 10-6 and win the Super Bowl. The league is designed to be equal. You don't get to schedule 4 guaranteed wins. You don't have 3 or 4 teams in each division that have 0 shot at beating the top team in the division. Bill Belichick is the greatest football coach ever most likely and his winning percentage is in the 60s. You don't ever see Neyland/Osbourne etc type winning percentages like you do in college. In the NFL if you win 66 percent of your games you are a legend. In college you win 66 percent and you're liable to get fired.

I love how random people get on this site after long absences just because we fire the HC, then see this thread and think the title implies we want to have discussion on why or why not Gruden would be successful.

I mean even if this thread was designed to be a discussion/debate, I’d say after 32 griden threads with each individual thread count that has a limit of 7,500 post... we are roughly 1000 post short of hitting 240,000 post thus far. So if this thread was meant to be a discussion/debate on the merits of the Grude then I doubt anything any doubters bring in here will change our opinions.

I know you all think you are special with the random post, but I promise you it’s the exact same thing that’s said by many others that come in here. We don’t care to here about why you don’t think Gruden is any good. Go tell that to every NFL team and essentially any NCAA school who would gladly take him. Explain to them why you know more than they do.

jon makes $6-7 million for working 2 days per week. It will take at least $10-12 million to get him interested in the ut job.

He studies film and draws up plays 7 days a week. And the benefactor of his current salary is hemorrhaging money and, apparently, about to lay off 100 employees by Thanksgiving.

Tell that to Michigan fans. He was their savior too. Still hasn't got them to the promised land in a conf that isn't supposed to be as tough as SEC.

The Michigan fans I know know that the future is pretty bright with him and love not going 5-7 or 7-5 any more. They happen to be in a division on par with the SEC West right now but with better coaches and understand that this was a major rebuilding year after losing something like 20 players, 11 of them to the NFL draft which was a school record.

Exactly. Those who keep bringing up his winning percentage in the NFL are maddening. The league is all about parity. Not to mention it is the best of the best, so winning is not that easy.

I don't know why there is any debate whatsoever as to whether Gruden would be a great hire or not. The only question is...is he coming to UT or not. Can we get him? WILL WE get him? That's the only question.

Or that there is a lot of misinformation within the Gruden deal...which is likely.
Woohoo! I listened to that segment one final time. The portion of the reporter’s question that Currie answered was “How do you kind of navigate a coaching search?”

Still wouldn’t want to play poker with him.

It may actually happen this time Nation. We may land our Ginger Whale. Man the harpoons Currie and send in the Wells Fargo trucks.

Ginger??? Looks blond to me.

Hey Punch you were suppose to call and wake me up today if anything happened ha ha. Looks like OldVol and CladinOrange were right about the fire date.

Man I was out like a bo**r in jogging pants all day myself. I spent 2.5 hours catching up on this thread. I gave out a big ol rebel yell when I woke up and saw the news. My wife thought I was crazy. lol

I may be wrong on this, but I think OldVolFan's original post alluded to someone singing at the cma's the other night. I get that he threw "ask me how I know" out there. Maybe he misspoke.

I checked that out. Said his initials were MR. I was fortunate to find a lead singer in "Old Dominion" is named Matt Ramsey. I think OldVol stated that Ramsey had some booster connections and actually called the night of the CMA's in Nashville about the signing or something to that effect. Warner Agee out in W.Tn. has some connections and writes for the Big Orange Report in Trenton,Tn. and basically said same thing went down. I just don't,at the moment, recall what night that was but either late Wed or Thur. night. A baseball player on UT's team is named Matt Ramsey also.:twocents:

This thread isn’t meant to be a debate anyways but we will always get them. 239,000 post into this and randoms love jumping in thinking they will tell us new.
