all of these threads will just give fuel to the notion that our fans are unrealistic. They're an embarrassment!

And we wonder why we are mocked by the rest of the country.

Think we are bad? Guess you haven't visited the Georgia forums lately or the bama forums after the kick 6...

In reply to what poster Concep has said about the Stalking Horse.

If I understood the "analogy" right, you are saying that Ergen has bought ESPN from Disney with the stipulation that they fire Gruden so that he will be available for TN to hire?

That is a win-win. ESPN has no choice but to love us and we get Gruden. I like this.👍

The photo is causing me to lean towards fans. With Social Media, Twitter would be the place to send a cryptic statement about Butch being fake. Instagram is used to post pictures of things that matter to you in life.

I could be overthinking it and he's just saying Butch is fake. I hope that's the case.

Also, noticed a few players liked his IG post. McKenzie and Kelly.

Well, he doesn't have Twitter. It is 100% Butch....NOT fans. Yes, you are overthinking it.

Embarrassment? you, sir, are the one who is an embarrassment. Sure, we might be FANatical at times, but when you tend to settle for the notion that we are being unrealistic, then that's when we hire Butch Jones 2.0. To be unrealistic is what leads to change. Put your blackberry away and go to bed. Make sure you eat your banana and take your meds. The rest of us will be having a Grude night.

I like Jon Gruden, but I don't think of him as a great coach. His winning percentage is barely over 50 perfect as a coach. I'm sure he'll recruit great, but we saw what a mediocre coach who is a great recruiter can do.

Yes, I'm aware he won a Superbowl. I also know of an national championship ex-coach that we don't want either from the SEC!

Bottom line, I like Gruden to much to want to see him fail here. We need a proven college coach, and he's not that.

Let's move on.

Look at Kelly’s and Saban’s record in the NFL. Gruden is better and he won a Super Bowl. Also, Gruden is known for being a brilliant x’s and o’s guy who can really develop a QB.

Jackson hole, Wyoming is where Allan Jones owns a huge ranch.... he's the owner of check into cash and a huge TN booster... he's had coaches at his house several times I know for a fact.... very interesting

If you can pull the “master bluffer” article in Forbes of 97, it lays the whole deal out and was interesting. But it says not found now for me...but a 02 article “grand Teton cash machine” is about it but doesn’t have near the info of the original. Might be nothing at all but I always thought that article was sorta relevant (master bluffer/pocket aces/ and now stalking horse/bankruptcy.

It's gone on my browser as well....

There is also a strategy called the stalking horse bid that is used to prevent low value bids on assets that belong to distressed companies, typically companies in bankruptcy. The stalking horse bidder will usually be given some incentives to take the risk of putting a fair market bid on the assets, regardless of if they end up being the high bid or not.

Imagine if Disney was considering putting a poor performing division out on the market for sale. Now imagine that the Ergens have agreed to put the initial bid for ESPN at a fair market value as long as Disney agrees to shed some of ESPNs expenses in the form of expensive headcount.

Of course this is all imagination land ish, but now Gruden is finding himself needing a new gig. The Ergens, through a VC, make a deal with the Grude that says that if UT HC position comes available and offered to him then he will sign.

Hi. You are interesting and new. Do you know Beaver? You sound like a personality of his. This sounds so very plausible. Kinda fills in some holes for me.

LMAO!!!!! So much irony here. You just linked a site ranking Super Bowl winning coaches as your proof that he wasn't a great NFL HC. :birgits_giggle:

Here's what it says about him btw:
Gruden built the Raiders into a contender and had them on the verge of going to the Super Bowl. Then Al Davis traded him -- yes, traded him -- to Tampa Bay, where he beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl with a great defense and Brad Johnson as his quarterback.

It was there the first time Beav mentioned pocket aces and I went back to it a few times. Haven’t checked super recently so I don’t know when it went down.
