No Jon Gruden. Hell no.

Every time the head coaching vacancy comes up in Knoxville, Jon Gruden's name comes up because you guys get stars in your eyes.

Gruden then floats the idea of leaving to ESPN, using it as a way to get them to give him more money to keep broadcasting. IT'S HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE TIME HIS NAME COMES UP AS A COACHING REPLACEMENT AT TENNESSEE.

Tennessee needs a head coach who recruits well, with a proven winning record and genuinely loves the Big Orange and its fans. Jon Gruden has none of those abilities or capabilities. He ain't even a good NFL commentator.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Jon Gruden's name come up every time there's a vacancy. He needs to stay where he is, and we need to get us a great coach. Gruden is not. Dude... you're not in the running. Your number ain't coming up. I will personally travel the 100 miles to Knoxville myself and lobby AGAINST you if your name comes up, and I hope you are there visiting when I do.

Quit drinking the Gruden Koolaid, Vol fans. It ain't got no sugar in it.

I'd rather have Peyton Manning. Heck, I'd rather have Phil Fulmer back, before Jon Gruden. My mother would be a better choice.... at least, she has the dignity and respect to not use the offer to get more money out of her current employer.

This will go over well I'm sure. :lolabove:

Not sure about him, but I've been in it for ten years and military prior to that. I'm telling you, I have no sources and it's purely my speculation, but Currie certainly looked like a confident guy up there today. There was zero "deer in the headlights" to him today. He's got something up his sleeve for sure.

I told my wife that he looked like the cat who just ate the canary.

SIAP by someone else. Got behind and didn't want to crunch through what's been said.

I think it to be prudent if we don't read too much into Currie's "smile." It could've just as easily indicated that he's aware of all the noise throughout the fanbase, and predominantly here, and it's ridiculous. I'm not saying it's one way or the other, but attempting to read tea leaves is nothing to put confidence in.

I was talking to my friend just now. Over the last week or so I've been telling him Gruden might actually come here and there is some serious smoke. While talking to him just a few minutes ago he said "WVLT just said Gruden canceled the meeting and turned us down". All I could do was LOL.

Maybe you and I have become nega-vols ... I don't know but I saw this the same way.... I want Gruden but I am only believing what I see and hear that is direct ... I have stopped trying to read between the lines

If my son asked for a Lamborghini, I would give him a much different look than a smile.... more like WT* look (think Gibbs on NCSI). Now he did ask recently for a pickup truck and I did give him a little laugh... and now my wife is talking real seriously about getting him a truck. Never count Gruden out until he's out.

Said you want a proven winner, then mentioned PM who has 0 coaching experience. See your way out.
