Official Jon Gruden thread 32.

The only way I read the Stalking Horse reference is that the boosters were the stalking horse, gaging interest and viability with Gruden. Because they learned that the deal was viable, now the AD (the "anonymous third party") can move forward with the deal.

I literally can't read it another way.

No Jon Gruden. Hell no.

Every time the head coaching vacancy comes up in Knoxville, Jon Gruden's name comes up because you guys get stars in your eyes.

Gruden then floats the idea of leaving to ESPN, using it as a way to get them to give him more money to keep broadcasting. IT'S HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE TIME HIS NAME COMES UP AS A COACHING REPLACEMENT AT TENNESSEE.

Tennessee needs a head coach who recruits well, with a proven winning record and genuinely loves the Big Orange and its fans. Jon Gruden has none of those abilities or capabilities. He ain't even a good NFL commentator.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Jon Gruden's name come up every time there's a vacancy. He needs to stay where he is, and we need to get us a great coach. Gruden is not. Dude... you're not in the running. Your number ain't coming up. I will personally travel the 100 miles to Knoxville myself and lobby AGAINST you if your name comes up, and I hope you are there visiting when I do.

Quit drinking the Gruden Koolaid, Vol fans. It ain't got no sugar in it.

I'd rather have Peyton Manning. Heck, I'd rather have Phil Fulmer back, before Jon Gruden. My mother would be a better choice.... at least, she has the dignity and respect to not use the offer to get more money out of her current employer.

I just got home from the Titans game. Heard the presser in the car.

My thoughts on having a search firm. One of the reason is to help deflect blame on a bad coaching hire. With Currie saying search firm, he clearly wants the responsibility (and credit) for this next hire.

Just getting in myself. Heard the Grude news from section 118!

Maybe you and I have become nega-vols ... I don't know but I saw this the same way.... I want Gruden but I am only believing what I see and hear that is direct ... I have stopped trying to read between the lines

More like toasted-vols. A lot of people still smell of burnt hair from 2012.

Well gruden is gonna have a hard time getting more money from ESPN when they are laying over 100 people off and the NFL is hurting them financially as well

Just caught up on the thread. I watched the presser when I was cooking dinner.

The grin on his face was definitely telling. He was stoic the rest of the press conference. There is definitely something there.

SOON!!!!!

I think I will order a new visor tonight just to have it for when Gruden takes the podium.
