Ok, being objective (or at least trying to be) there are several positives and several negatives from the conference:
Negatives
1) No negotiated buyout/resignation. Many of our insiders here had the same story and that's not how it played out. I suspect rather than them being wrong, that is what the shouting match between Jones and Currie was about last week: Butch refusing the resign.
2) Hoke as interim also sort of goes against everything we were hearing previously.
3) Currie is a reasonably good liar. He praised Butch's values and claimed he made the fire decision last night. His lying was fairly believably so he won't be like reading an open book.
Positives
1) No search firm. Smart decision or already has his man. Either way, good answer.
2) It's about winning and losing, and we didn't win enough. Well said.
3) Deftly side-stepped the Gruden questions.
Plenty of folks with connections saying it's happened. Plenty of folks saying no way in heck, move on. Bottom line, nothing has really changed.
