If I remember right beav went into specific detail saying if the AD tried to make it look like he spear headed this was responsible for the hire he was full of sh***. Now it may be just me but from what I took from the presser he had the spear in his hand. No way he gets up there and acts like this is on him with no search firm help unless he has "pocket aces" to try make himself look good.

He was asked directly about the comments made by Tanner Ingle and Butch steering him away from UT and this idiot said he sees those comments as speculative..

I get what you’re saying. But Currie is now marketing Jones to other teams to save money on the buyout. He is NOT going to publicly say anything that would negatively affect Butch’s future potential employment.

He is setting himself up to be the hero imo...going to leave the day-to-day operations up to staff while he himself searches for a coach. Not going with a search firm...tells me a lot.

Ok, being objective (or at least trying to be) there are several positives and several negatives from the conference:

Negatives
1) No negotiated buyout/resignation. Many of our insiders here had the same story and that's not how it played out. I suspect rather than them being wrong, that is what the shouting match between Jones and Currie was about last week: Butch refusing the resign.
2) Hoke as interim also sort of goes against everything we were hearing previously.
3) Currie is a reasonably good liar. He praised Butch's values and claimed he made the fire decision last night. His lying was fairly believably so he won't be like reading an open book.

Positives
1) No search firm. Smart decision or already has his man. Either way, good answer.
2) It's about winning and losing, and we didn't win enough. Well said.
3) Deftly side-stepped the Gruden questions.

Plenty of folks with connections saying it's happened. Plenty of folks saying no way in heck, move on. Bottom line, nothing has really changed.
