This happens all the time, and it's easy to see why. He's got more loyalty to the recruits than to the school that just fired him.

Definitely should be a rule on the books to prevent this.

An unemployed coach that contacts recruits should be hit with a show cause.

With stories coming out, if Haslams have been protecting CBJ, it’s the equivalent of enabling a hostile environment that creates irreversible legal liability for UT. I don’t care what $’s they have. If their enablement Of CBJ is true, we do not need their money. They should be distanced from the University immediately and names completely erased from buildings, scholarships, and everything else.
Jimmy will be indicted in the Pilot/FJ Manuel rebate scam. Testimony is damning so far and the star witnesses haven't testified. Another reason for UT to disengage from the Haslams.

Wait, aren't you guy the guy who was offended by Cade Mays using foul language during a game? If so I guess one could say you were being a big.....

Not as much offended as pointing out that Cade might not be a high character guy, but whatev.

About 18 months ago I worked with a former local player's parent. The kid couldn't stay healthy but was talented. I shared an office with her and another diehard Tennessee fan. She told us that Butch was a bully and that the "player's coach" persona was all an act. Told me Butch was bad for playing favorites and punishing kids he just flat out didn't like for the dumbest crap. The other girl and I didn't believe her...we honestly just thought she was bitter because her kid was injury prone and not getting playing time. Then at the Missouri game a couple years back, I got to hang out with Wharton's family and spend some time around some of the players after that game. She basically said that Butch promised Vic the world then it IMMEDIATELY changed the moment he walked on campus. She never said the word "liar" but she didn't have to. Again, I just thought it was an upset mother. I really wish I would have believed them.

That was the day Eric Berry found out he had cancer if I recall. He walked past me and I was so excited to meet him but he had a look like "Don't talk to me, don't look at me!" I had met him before and he wasn't like that at all so I thought maybe the NFL got to him. The news broke the next day and now I wish I knew because I would have offered a kind smile rather than judging his mood to be rude.

Hindsight and all that...

Didn't do a good job of keeping your cover there, chief.

A Letter from John Currie: Nov. 12, 2017 - University of Tennessee Athletics

This afternoon at 5:00 p.m. ET, I will hold a press conference to discuss this transition. The press conference will be streamed live on UTsports.com so that you can follow along and stay up-to-date as it takes place. Complete video and a full transcript of the press conference will be available to view on-demand on UTsports.com for those who are unable to view it live.

To protect the integrity of our process, following the press conference I will have no further public comments until such time we announce our new coach. This search will be my sole focus and I will be in regular contact with Chancellor Davenport. Naturally, there will be great interest and speculation across the college football world. As I reminded our student-athletes when I met with them earlier today, unless you hear news directly from me, do not assume it to be accurate.
