Not at a big P5 school. Would be silly to pigeon hole yourself with a coach in waiting. Especially not knowing how long Grude may be here. Just makes zero sense on all fronts.

Typically you don’t see a HC in waiting tag unless the coach is close to retirement and they just really want to hold on the coordinator. This would indicate to me that Gruden doesn’t plan on coaching a long time.

I doubt this story personally (not necessarily the Grumor itself, though) but if true, this means Gruden has 0 interest as UT as a long term destination, and would be using this to rise his stock back into a big name NFL coach candidate. IMO this is our BEST hope, since rarely do NFL coaches have success, then go into broadcasting, then go to college and stay. It could happen, but I think 3 years of Gruden is what we're really hoping for at this point.

Tee on the other hand, is probably not in line to fill any major programs' HC vacancies any time soon, so this would be a pretty nice path to a "major league" HC position. There's 0 chance people are down on our program after a few years of the Grude, and he'd have TONS of recruits and talent to work with. IMO this is the most credible Grumor I've heard that generally makes sense, and the Clausen bit I could believe as a coordinator/position coach-in-waiting since he has virtually no experience. Meshes well with the whole "ten year plan" idea (that I fully support, btw).

Miss. State playing well against bammer. Where are all the Mullen trolls telling us how good he will be at UT?

If they have already been here and I missed it they can
GTFO

The QB is overrated so there’s that

USC’s quarterback throws a lot of interceptions, which tends to tell me he hasn’t been taught how to read a defense well. Reading defenses was not exactly Tee’s strength when he played at UT either.
