OFFICIAL: Jarrett Guarantano to start vs SC

SIAP: but one reason for switching to JG this week might be because everyone knows you dont start a Fresh QB in alabama or the swamp. Not saying there is a chance at bama, but at least you give the kid a shot before going in there.

How many people have been rooting for QD to fail since the GT game? Don't act like that didn't happen, either.

Not me. Had Dormady been successful, I’m pretty confident he would be everyone’s favorite on the team. However, he hasn’t put together one great all around game. His best was erratic vs. GA Tech, and it’s been downhill from there. Blame goes around, but the team isn’t responding.

He plays like he has all year, we lose. So roll the dice with JG. He might be terrible and we lose; or maybe he plays well enough to get a victory.

At this point, JG is an unknown. QD isn’t, and unless Lane Kiffin appears and sprinkles Crompton dust on him and he miraculously starts clicking, it’s a given that we lose. With JG, we don’t know. It’s a gamble, but BJ might as well. A loss and he’s gone, and we are 0 for SEC with QD.

Does this news change your outlook of the game in any way?

Who can muster outlook? It's Muschamp. Oh-for-Muschamp doesn't fly. Big Orange is running a fever on this. Break the fever, then you can have outlook. Win. The. Game. Vols.

Let's be honest. Dormady is halfway through the season and has not shown any Prospect of setting the world on fire. if I remember correctly he only has one more year of eligibility. What makes us think that he's going to have a magical senior year? I know this is all conjecture, but honestly what do we really see in him? And if that is the case, why not go ahead and move on to JG? He is the future, right? If he is our quarterback that supposed to carry us for the next 3 years, why not starting now?

No, but if I don't buy a ticket to a sh*tty Spielberg flick, I don't get accused of "not supporting the Spielberg program."

No, but when you thump your chest about not buying one and getting on social media going "we deserve better! Fire him!" and calling those that go enablers you're just as conceited/entitled as you are here.

I hope JG goes off on SC. I hope he breaks runs and hands it off at the perfect time. I hope he throws perfect spirals and hits at least a couple of deep balls. I hope the SC D looks confused and distraught. I hope we beat SC by 21 points.

Dormady did ok, but he needs some improvement. Maybe he will get another chance here, or maybe he will transfer. I hope he sticks around. He is at the very least a decent backup. Still, I wouldn't blame him for leaving after the season. Maybe he would do better in a drop-back system. It wouldn't surprise me. Especially after Peterman.

I am really pulling for JG to go off on SC this weekend. I hope he takes over and dominates the SC D.

Go Vols!

I just want one QB to play great and really take the job. QD had plenty of time to do that and is a junior. We’ve seen how far he can take the offense this season. No excuses for him.

It’s JG’s time now. Every scouting service thinks he’s really talented AND remember he’s a freshman. His play will only getting better from here with experience.

That’s the biggest difference right now. Upside is much higher with JG.

His experience will help the next coach.

In all seriousness Guarantano should have been put in the game after QD 2nd INT against Georgia but most certainly should have played the entire 2nd half of that game.

Now with them finally giving the ball to JG a guy who better fits this offense I expect this staff to come out Saturday in I-Formation and go under center the entire game.

I have no faith in CBJ
I don't think JG will be prepared to play and that's on CBJ. And you're exactly right. I would not be shocked if it went exactly like you posted

Haha, that would be so Butch.

Let him play and learn, and maybe he’ll be on fire by next year.

and I guess all the INT's were not his fault either...

If our O-line is so bad why is JK 1 of the best backs in the SEC...and if his timing was better and not throwing behind and over throwing receivers he would be better also..

JG has had two pick 6’s that weren’t his fault. Callaway and Palmer both dropped the balls resukting in a touchdown for the defense. QD ain’t great but he isn’t solely responsible for our offensive struggles. As great as John Kelly is, he dropped the game winner vs Florida. Palmer also dropped a sure TD vs Florida that could have prevented a pick on next play or two.

This offense as a whole sucks.

So idk if anyone has brought this up but I’ve been thinking about the little success that we’ve seen from JG and I honestly wonder if it would help to build around a more west coast offensive game plan for his first start.hes been pretty accurate on short throws and if we make it so that he’s focusing less on reads and more on completions then that sets up a better scenario for him and also opens up the run some for him and all the rbs.plus we don’t have to worry as much about extended pass protection.obviously I know butch will never build a game plan around his players but I’m curious what you all think about this type of game plan for JG? Atleast in the short run to build experience
