Official Halo 3 Thread

How did the Halo 3 thread turn into a NASCAR conversation.

.....anyway.

I'm now a level 37 Captain. Bow before me.
I have all skulls too.

OMG. First of all im sure the game is just great. I was only having some fun with the Halo people b/c of all the fuss about it. Im sorry Halo people if i offended you. It was only a little ball busting guys. Dont take everything i say to extremes. I thought you Remus knew that. Holy *bleep* you guys are touchy.

Well, if you're going to do some ball busting... get warned about it, then continue to do it anyway, I'll gladly oblige.

Well, had my first lengthy Halo 3 session. Decent multiplayer, although it still feels like Halo 2 rehashed to me, with a couple more gizmos that make it a smidge more strategic. The single player game is kind of a yawner so far.

IMO Halo has always been a solid franchise, and is hugely responsible for the popularity of online gaming. But there are quite a few FPS games out there that are far better. Sort of like the FFVII of shooters. Solid multiplayer is always well and good, but any game needs to have a deep, engaging, well-wrought single player campaign to truly be considered great in my book.

I'll give Halo 3 a 4/5. Simply a solid game, but the campaign continues to be kind of dry, and there's really nothing ground-breaking here.

I'll agree with Milo... it's built around the multiplayer. The final round is amazingly fun, though.

I'm not really sure what FPS games are out there that are drastically better. I need a list Milo! My list of top series goes, Wolfenstein, Quake, Half-Life, Doom, and Halo.

Doom got dropped drastically by that crap game they put out a couple of years ago... I never played UT, so it doesn't get a spot on my list.

I felt the same as you for the move from Halo to Halo 2... and now a similar feeling of 2 to 3. But if you look at the differences from 1 to 3, things have changed dramatically. The game has just evolved... they have TRIED to maintain a sense of familiarity so as to not lose the players who enjoyed 2 so much.
Now I'm waiting on Halo Wars. Comes out sometime in '08.
My XBL tells me you're still playing the crap outta this game. :)

I was getting owned pretty badly last night around midnight... I just sucked it up for a couple of games. It was probably the person on my team that has a 16 level that really doesn't deserve it, so we were attracting more higher level people into our game. I hate 3 on 3 team slayer, btw. I have made it to Gunnery Sergeant Grade 2 now...

Slow going for me, rank wise. I'm a Private, 2nd Class. That's a good thing though, with a kill/death ratio of .49 :ermm:

EXP points are only earned if you actually WIN the match. So unless you're fantastic, they can be hard to come by playing Slayer on a ranked board.

I've found that a decent way to earn EXP is to play Team Slayer on the social board. You have a 50/50 chance of earning an EXP point... :good!:

Been playing ranked team slayer.

I was unaware of this.

Usually, when I hop on a ranked slayer match, I get my :shaking2: handed to me.

Punk kids :the_finger:

I teamed up with 3 guys I met in Team Slayer and we spent an entire night playing through the game on Legendary. I took a break and didn't finish the level where you take out the two Scarabs in the snow at the end (can't think of the name of it off the top of my head). I could never beat this game alone on Legendary. I want the achievement so I guess I'm going to have to give that level a shot on my own.

Me and an a co-worker might play co-op tonight. We haven't gotten far, so we will likely start on the second lvl.
Anyone interested, ping me on Live.

I have a few goals currently going. 1)Score the 15,000 required in the metagame on each level (two of them require 50,000 :eek:hmy: ) 2)Grab that last stupid skull, cowbell. 3)Play through Legendary co-op. I too would be hard pressed to beat the game on Legendary by myself.

Wemus, Doom and Quake are the games that come to mind for me as FPS games I think to be far better (at the least relative to their time) than Halo. I don't really see too much difference in the multiplayer action of Halo, or COD3 or GOW right now.

The Halo series deserves recognition for two things: The first one because it almost single-handedly kept the XBox alive through its formative years, and Halo 2 revolutionized online console gaming. But pound for pound in quality, there are games out now equivalent to Halo, and some classics IMO that are better.
