Official GTA IV Thread

I'll have a field day playing it which is all that matters to me. As soon as I'm done with my final tomorrow (around noonish) I'm driving all the way to cedar bluff and picking it up and playing it for a long long time.

Midnight madness tonight at Game Stop. I'm tempted to go get my copy tonight.

I'm about to go to GS at 10:00. Maybe there won't be a real long line.

See you guys later tonight.

You need to upgrade to 360 cotton

I figure with a PC, an old xbox, and a Wii I have about all of the gaming platforms a 35 year old man can have without becoming that comic book dude on the Simpsons.

Has anybody played the London GTA? Is it worth getting?

EDIT: NVM, looks like it is PS only.

my finals don't end until late wednesday:cray:

too risky for me. i'd be afraid i'd end up bombing all my tests.:p that being said, i probably won't have this game for a couple of weeks.

O I'm fairly confident I will bomb all my tests, but it won't stop me from playing. I'd bomb them games or not.

I got the game last night and played it till about 1am.

It's insane.

Not yet- I only had about a hour of PT. Started the story mode and got familiar with the new stuff.

Hats off to Rockstar for finally creating character movements and physics that actually look real. Nikko has a very distinctive "saunter" when he walks. It's almost comical. Walking, running, and sprinting are all very smooth and fluid now. No jerky 90 degree turns.

First thing I did was get into a fist fight on the street. The new fighting controls are excellent. Niko actually sqaures himself toward his target and can block and kick as well as punch. Felt like a real fight.

I won't go into much detail here, but escaping the cops is different too. I like it- it feels more realistic.

how different is the city swil? i know they were completely redoing liberty city but thought they might keep some stuff in. are there any similarities to III?

From what I've seen, it's a completely different city. It looks a lot more like New York City than the Liberty City of old.

Well, if you play online you can go to the actual city. The actual city reminds me a lot of of III. Central Park and the road next to it for sure.

Anyone want to meet up online tonight to give it a whirl??

I played a bit online last night. However, it didn't seem like I was connecting properly most of the time.

The 2 or 3 times I got into a big Team Deathmatch game, it was pretty fun. The controls take getting used to. Everyone seemed to be exploring more than playing. Still, it was fun with rocket launchers going off everywhere. I hopped in an ambulance and starting running people over. If I got one, I'd turn the sirens on for a second. I also climbed a 50ft billboard with a rocketlauncher and had fun blowing up people and stuff from way up there.

I didn't get to try any other modes. Seems like there's 8 or so different games, most of which have an additional team option, too.
