As much as I would love to have Tee here as head coach down the road we are not in a position to have a first year head coach. Currie also noted it would be big, explosive, and expensive.

I don't think he actually said that, it's what someone quoted him saying, apparently.

Peterson would certainly lineup with AV's plan B scenario imo. Some people may not agree with it (They're dumb if so) because he isn't Gruden, but nonetheless Peterson would be the one of the best possible hires Currie could make.

Petersen recruited kids to Boise. BOISE!! And then coached the heck out of them.

More of the coaching part. He got a lot of regional kids, with a couple of Cali ballers mixed in. He's just excellent at development and scheme. Most of his guys at Boise were 2 and 3*'s, which makes his success all that much more noteworthy. He'd be a great coach here.

That's the major hurdle for those guys. They are not recognized by the majority of recruits in the SE and it may take a few years for them to establish the contacts to be effective recruiters. If they get behind in recruiting, they may never catch up.

I'm afraid, like it or not, its Gurden or bust.

I understand this is a 'Gurden' thread, but this is absolute nonsense.

Young players AND coaches know exactly who great coaches are. You're acting like nobody knows anything about anyone other than Gruden.

Recruits don't know.
Players don't know.
The ONLY way any of the above would be told who the next coach is going to be is because we're 24-48 hours from announcing it officially. You don't tell a bunch of kids with social media accounts your biggest, best kept secret, unless you actually want it to be leaked in a big way. If a single recruit was told, that secret would last all of 10 minutes.

If 1 of my kids had it in his head he might be getting this really expensive toy for Christmas, and I heard him day after day after day say how excited he was to get it, and I knew I had no means to get it for him, I think I would nip it in the bud. How mean would that be to let that build up in his head all the way to Christmas and see his face when he opens up a pack of socks?

I think the options are:

1) It is really a done deal

2) It's absolutely not happening, and Currie is essentially trolling us

3) They're still trying to get it done, but there are hangups with it, which means Currie can't really openly talk about it

I think #3 is the most likely. If it's #1, I think we would have announced him already. Why not?? If it's #2, then Currie is really hurting himself and whoever the next coach is.

To your point, the flip-side is also true. If you had already purchased that gift for your child for Christmas and he was hot on the trail of discovering you had already purchased it, you would put up smoke and even flatly deny hou had purchased it to get him off the trail until Christmas day.

That's why they would hire staff that knows the SE. I'd love to get Peterson and then keep CRG and add Dale Jones as a LB coach.

I've believed for over a month that the announcement would come this week simply because of the recruits coming this weekend. If it doesn't happen this week, I believe that get it done before those recruits leave campus next weekend.

If Botch Jones can recruit here, I don't have any reservations about Chris Peterson being able to here.

Not directly. A booster said Currie said that. Who knows how much hyperbole the booster added into what Currie actually told him.

I actually had a Gruden dream last night. Dead serious with this.

Dreamed I was at the Vandy game, stands were less than half full. I'm wandering around looking for my seat, when I wander into one of the skyboxes.whwn I go inside, there's a guy with a bunch of kids around him, and as I approach he turns around and it's Gruden.

I introduce myself, go a little fanboy, and then think "OMG, I need to get a picture for VolNation, otherwise they will never believe me!" But then I realize I don't have my camera. I ask if he will wait for me to go to the car and get it, but he says "sorry, I haveta go watch my team play."

Well that totally flips me out in my dream...he said it was his team! VolNation will believe he's coming if I can just get a pic! So I tell him thanks, and race to find my car, and get my camera. I find it and then run back and start wandering through the half-empty stands during the game to find Gruden.

And I finally find him, with the kids still, in the nosebleeds of all places. I ask again if we can get a picture and he says ok, but then I realize in dream that my camera is broken, so I start to panic. Gruden is also losing patience. Then (as happens in dreams sometimes) I realize that I have had my phone all along, I should use that! So I pull it out and it's taking me forever to get the phone settings right, and Gruden is getting more and more uptight because I'm distracting him from the game.

But FINALLY I get a picture, thank him over and over, and rush back to my car to upload and tell you guys GRUDEN IS HERE!

Then I look at the photos and they are AWFUL. Like blurrier than the Calhouns photo. You can't really tell anything. And I'm like "I can't go back to Gruden and ask for another pic, he will be mad and might decide not to coach but because of me. But I have to bring SOMETHING to VolNation!"

So I decided to post my good news that I saw Gruden and here's my photo. And everyone ripped me as a troll and a liar because the photo was garbage.

Then I woke up.

The end.

Where have I seen this before.....?

Not to mention he had to deal with that awful blue turf.

On TOS, they said that recruits had talks with both Norvell and Mullen camps about being potential VOLS head coaches.

Now, they are backing off on Norvell as a coach, so...

I don't think anyone knows anything.

Agreed.
