Nothing on MNF. Hubbs & Company in chat last night continue to maintain that Gruden is not an option and they don't understand why JC hasn't shot down the Grumors to help temper expectations and not cut the next coach off at the knees.
Rememeber: this is the same Hubbs who was out at the airport with Jon Reed this past week waiting for Gruden to step off a private jet. He just doesn't know much this time around, which is rare. But he's just making educated guesses and chasing down rumors like the rest of us.
But he has to report something. People are paying $9.95 for something.
respectfully....I want GRUDEN 100% but really don't know if he is coming. What I do think is that if he isn't coming to coach our beloved VOLS he is assisting in this search process to guarantee that we end up with the best possible candidate other than himself. Hope he is our coach SOON, but either way I think it will still be a BOOM hire!!
The next time you have a thought... let it go.

I think Currie is a lot smarter than many give him credit for. He knows (should know) how to put on a show.
That's the way you do it. It's a secret, though hugely hinted at, Gruden has been in K-town several times over the past few months. How hard would it be to sneak him back in for that sort of thing without it leaking?

Here's the thing, while it would be a major Tennessee dream for Gruden to announce on MNF, it's just not going to happen in that setting. That's just not the proper place for such an announcement. Even if Gruden was to say "this is my last season calling Monday Night Football" that's all but a admission he's going back into coaching which would cause reporters to hound him mercilessly.
No, I expect this to be an utter surprise for a great many people including the media. For the maximum shock and awe at this point, (remember the best and worst kept secret out there) Currie starts a normally scheduled press conference, speaks about a few unrelated things and casually mentions "oh, and by the way, I have news on our coaching search. I'd like to bring out our new head football for him to make a statement..."
Gruden walks out, reporters go wild trying to get the first question, Hyams quietly seethes as he tears up the questions for Dan Mullen he's been carefully crafting for the better part of a month and Freak has to shut down VN from the maximum boomage the traffic produces.
