Disagree, respectfully. This thought that Gruden is the only person that can bring UT back to relevance among a large portion of the fan base can and probably has had adverse effect on the search process imo

I refuse to buy into the crazy Tennessee fans and their high expectations cause us to hire mediocre coaches . If that were true how is it supposed to be ? Do we or are we just supposed to say “ sure bring in coach Google search we are happy to give them tens of millions of $$$ until we can’t take the losing seasons any longer?” Why are we such bad fans for demanding our coaches live up to our traditions ? Pride , Tradition , Winning Football Games... that has always been what Tennessee and its fans are known for . Right now we have only lost one of those three we need to get that back before all we have left is memories .

Yesterday I posted the story I was being told about Gruden, but accidentally left out one part.


Evidently Gruden's quarterback camp stuff is part of Madden 18. This supposedly complicates a UT contract to some degree and was having to be worked out. I'm assuming it has to do with NCAA rules also. Maybe this has been mentioned before and I missed it.

I certainly do not know if any of this is true, but it does seem a realistic possibility.

Everybody saying Gruden makes sense because he hasn’t denied it needs to realize he hasn’t denied any job, including the Tampa rumors.

Currie also may have a very good reason not to deny it besides it being a “smokescreen”.

Would love Gruden here, but I don’t see how anybody can accurately read what’s going on based on what has or hasn’t been officially released from the AD. JMO.

Sorry brother.... Some seem to think that Gruden will say no today and are on the cliff edge again because they bought into the idea that would hear this week one way or the other.... I am unsure of this ..

BCarter believes that Mullen is the man.... I have been told by my source that if it was not Gruden it would probably be Mullen?? tifwiw

I have seen nothing, heard nothing nor do I believe that anything is going on except this is a major hire and will take some time to iron out all the details ... I have zero reason to believe that Gruden has said NO!

I do not believe Mullen is the man. I am just saying if the reports are true we could do a lot worse and that I would have him in my top 3 of people not named Gruden.

Sorry, I will reignite the apathy that the dismissal of Butch quenched, and move forward being just a football fan. I love my University, this City, and this State, but will not support what I feel to be another half-effort at hiring a lackluster coach.

They need to understand, the longer it takes to make a move to return us to some type of prominence, the longer it will take to garner the type of fan-support they desire.

Sorry for the self-important, overwrought personal rant. This is the last I'll say on the matter....it doesn't have to be my choice of coach, but it better be worthy.

I have always liked your info, but if your going to Mullen you might as well put Kiffin and Les Miles in the mix as well. Both are obtainable.

I would not be upset with either of those either. It has been a long time since we have had a real coach. Kiffin has grown and Les is a very good football coach.

And to clarify again I am not "Full Mullen" but I do think he is one of the better options not named Gruden, again.

I guess the university of Tennessee should be able to control the thoughts and opinions of the fan base? Its not like the university has done anything to make the fans think its Gruden and only Gruden. The AD said he wasn't going to say anything until the hire is made and that's exactly the way it should be. His job isn't to shoot down every ridiculous rumor that comes out. Just saying.

He's knowingly letting this play out as is when there are steps that he could take to change the tone of the fans' conversations and expectations. Just saying. He is aware.

If John Currie is using this as a smokescreen for another hire, then he is the dumbest sob on the planet IMO and wont be the AD here long. If he is ignorant about how passionately the majority of the fanbase wants Gruden then I question his ability to run this AD. JMO

Patterson yes, a HUGE yes. Not sure if the smoke about him contacting UT is real but I hope it is.

Peterman threw 5 interceptions in the first half this weekend, not sure we want him. (LOL jk) Peterson is not reality imo but would be irresponsible not to contact him

Franklin is another huge YES for me but very unattainable. He is where he wants to be

Harbaugh is another unknown asset but not largely realistic imo.

Sure I would take ANY of these over Mullen but I am speaking in terms of who I think would be a long term success AND are attainable for us at this time.
