Is Currie going to the Bahamas this week? Bc idk how he could seriously make that trip without already having a Coach in his back pocket. Maybe it's Gruden, maybe it's someone else having a great year that they are waiting to finish, but he doesn't make that trip unless he has someone and they are simply waiting to announce.

Phenomenal post. I hope everyone reads this and buys in. Even if I did not know what I know, this is the boat I would be in. This logical analysis, coupled with what I believe to be true, is why I'm not budging an inch on Gruden to the Hill.

I'm glad my 'a$$hole or armpit' post was phenomenal.

I assume that's what's going on here since your post is right after mine.

EDIT: now you added in the quote :(

I don’t see why we would need to wait until Sunday for a no.

Precisely.

Within an hour of Jon Gruden saying no to Tennessee, someone--Beverly Davenport or John Currie most likely--would quite formally and definitively let the fan base know that Jon Gruden is not in the equation any longer.

Basic expectation management.

We haven't seen that announcement, therefore Jon has not said no.

It really is that simple.

Alright guys, just one more week until the end of the season and most probably when we will hear our announcement. Let's power through this.

247 reported over the weekend on one of their posts that the plan is for Currie to go to the Bahamas with tha basketball team.
If he does he has his coach. No way around it.
BUT, a poster on there said that the Grudens apparently will also go to the Bahamas...

Just make this **** stop! One way or the other.

I pretty much don't have the energy anymore to care who we get. Just like I don't have the energy left to care about this season. Whatever. Maybe I can recover during the offseason. I'm tired of having to defend my love for Tennessee.

This is why I believe we get Gruden. Anything less, and we will start losing even our best fans. My passion for TN football is still strong but has steadily diminished over the past 10 years. We are at a fork in the road where I, and many others, will have a dramatic shift....up or down.

1 - he can still make phone calls from there.

2 - he can hop on a private booster plane and travel anywhere at any time, and be back in a short amount of time as well.

3 - he can make untraceable wire transfers :)

It’s great when people start them since we aren’t around 247. I just worry that we seem to be starting new ones with fewer and fewer posts in the old ones. 😬

Just make the threads go to 12,000 posts and delete any new post prior to the 12,000 mark. That should fix the issue.

yeah Gruden shooting new Corona commercial there lol

Went to the game Saturday with my buddy in the AD. He confirmed that Gruden was contacted and that it was more of a formality. He said that he heard Currie wanted Gruden to not officially turn down the position, and that Gruden wanted to clear the air tonight on MNF. He said the AD knows that the Bucs are aiming Gruden and there is interest on both sides. That comment that Gruden made that he wanted to respect the coaches was geared towards Dirk Koetter.

All kidding aside, I think today is going to be a big day.
For some reason I feel like one side or the other will finally publicly address the situation.
I'm just not sure if we will like what we hear.

I sincerely hope it is tomorrow because if there is statement on a MNF game day IMO I would not expect the news to be good

Good morning BCarter ... glad to see you post again :hi:

Still lurking some when I have time. I just am not the type of person that is ok with STFU and GTFO or other childish things people will say on a message board so I will just keep my thoughts to myself. I will say this thread is entertaining. Far more so than in 2012 lol.

At the press conference Currie was asked if he was going to use a search firm.

He replied: "No, not at this time."

This was taken to mean he had someone (Gruden) in mind at that time. One would have to assume if said person was off the table Currie would hire a search firm?

Just thinking out load.

To summarize a logic train whose pieces have been mentioned several times here, just maybe not all together, a train that leads directly to Gruden on Rocky Top:

~ ~ ~

1. Expectation Management. "Don't get your hopes up," every parent has said at some point. Why? Because hopes and dreams grow stronger and more powerful with time. If a dream has to be squashed, better that it be done early. Currie just had a fan barking "Gruden" at him, like a lunatic. Think he's not aware of the destructive potential of the fan base's mood? And yet not a peep from the UT administration about expectation management. No nipping it in the bud, no heading it off at the pass, they seem content to let the excitement grow and uncertainty fester. Would you do that with your children, if you didn't already know that the toy they really want is in the attic waiting to be wrapped, or at the very least that you intend to buy it soon? CONCLUSION: Jon Gruden is still in play. Maybe a done deal, maybe not...but he's in play.

2. Build the Hype: Not only is UT leadership not managing expectations, they are encouraging them. Big, exciting and explosive indeed. We think you are going to be very happy. Who says these kinds of things, unless they are confident of their ability to deliver the goods? CONCLUSION: Jon Gruden is not only in play, he's a lock.

3. Don't do Anything: What? We are in Day 7 of post-Butch Tennessee, and Jon Currie doesn't seem to be doing very much. In fact, he and his 4th floor compatriots seem not to have done much since Thursday. They've basically been sitting on their haunches for the past four days. Why would they be doing that? Isn't an intense hunt for a new coach under way? Didn't Currie say this was going to be his entire focus until we get our guy? And he's...wait, what? He's thinking about spending a day or two in the Bahamas for a basketball tournament? Okay.... CONCLUSION: You only stop working when there's no more work to be done...we got our guy. Some guy. Does it have to be Gruden, though? Yes. See points 1 and 2.

~ ~ ~

So that's the logic train. You don't need "insider information" to see that train's path, or its destination. I respect Atlanta Vol and his insights, but you don't need them to reach a clear conclusion that Jon Gruden is a lock. Don't need Beav, don't need Bubba, don't need Tuesday, as much as I appreciate all these fellas. Don't need them.

Only need eyes and logic to see where we're going. Or more accurately, who's coming to Knoxville.

Remember the charts that show various ways people react to stress over time? The basket cases have long ago fled, unable to cope with the long Quiet Period. The freak-outs have recovered, and are now holding steady. It's the fade-out crowd's turn to have doubts, to begin falling apart. Continued stress without relief may be wearing them slowly down, until they lose hope.

Don't join them, and if you are one of them, fight it. Don't fade out on us.

Jon Gruden is coming. Logic proves it, and a press announcement within the next 7-8 days will confirm it. Just hold steady, friends.

^This, the best post I have seen in the Gruden threads...well, except for Daniela! Great job!

Ok. I'll go to the Bahamas and camp out at the airport to see if I can get a picture of either Currie or Gruden, or both, arriving. The things I'll do for VN and the greater good.

I have trouble believing they'll make an announcement specifically for Gruden turning us down. I get where you're coming from but I have a hard time buying into that one. I don't think it's as simple as what I bolded in your post.
