Official Gruden Thread 39

I'm still hopeful this happens. I'd be shocked if anything happens before Vandy. Just doesn't make sense to distract from the Seniors.

This day in age we have the answers at our fingertips immediately. So much stuff is delivered to us in seconds. We've forgotten what being patient is.

I honestly believe what Currie said. Unless you hear it from him directly, don't believe it.

I saw it stated that Currie is traveling to the Bahamas. But I think it was just one of the posts earlier in this thread, as I was catching up this morning. So no idea if it had any basis in fact, or was just conjecture.

Nope not conjecture. Heard him on the radio for the pregame interview w/Kessling. He said his family was going and he was going to try to make it down for a day or two, but that he was staying here.

Nice to dream but sucks when reality hits us.

ATL had a dream, and I liked it. Plus with where I'm at, I have nothing but time to dream. Even if its not Gruden, we will get a great coach, and it may surprise everyone on this board, whoever it is.

But I'm still sticking to soon....
Until Currie says otherwise.

I will also add that I am at the point of starting to think the longer this goes without either side commenting the less likely it's going to happen. There is really no good reason not to acknowledge it anymore. The job is open, recruiting class is in jeopardy, and with the results of Saturday night any real chance at a bowl is gone. Some have brought up holding off until after the season because some of the assistants are still coaching but that really doesn't hold water. Gruden doesn't have to announce his entire staff on the day he is hired. I am sure he has a good idea of who is coming even if they are currently employed at the time he signs a contract.

The only reason, imo, it's not made public is if he has turned us down. Tennessee probably wouldn't want it to be made public that they struck out going after their top choice.

I am still on the Gruden train because:

I am tired of playing teams and saying "If we can only make it respectable and keep it close I will be happy" or "We know we can't beat them and just don't get embarrassed".

I no longer will be satisfied with mediocrity as the norm, or just hoping for a bowl game (any bowl) or praying that we somehow find a way to win one!

I am old enough to remember the days under Fulmer when people actually feared to play in Neyland and knew if they face UT they faced a great team.... We use to be the be team that others said about us "they hope they can at least keep it close". For those to young to remember it was not just under Fulmer we were that way it was under Dickey and the first couple of years under Battle.. other teams hated us... I want to go BACK!

Their might be an up and comer that can do that, but there is one coach for sure (in my thoughts at least) that can and his name is Jon Gruden. So until Currie introduces someone else, for me I will stay right here hoping for the best out there for UT football

GRUDEN TO THE HILL!

Be prepared for the big orange meltdown that will surely follow if that's true

I’m afraid you are correct

I wished I could dream. I feel like all but hope is gone on Gruden and hopefully we haven’t wasted time trying to court Gruden for several weeks. We probably could had Kelly already for half the money that was offered Gruden. I hope I am wrong but seems like most people that gave us positive information is saying no now.

all of this makes sense. and i agree...gun to my head, i think you're spot on....

the only thing i would say is that gruden has always been very conscious of coaches still on the job, and not wanting to detract from them, or their respective seasons. he generally leads off any discussion regarding his name in a search with something referencing that.

so he may have requested/required that no announcement be made until after the season.

I don't get it. Jim Mora jr should be a good coach if Gruden said no you think he could do better at Tennessee volunteers?

Why is it each and every time someone gets fired from another school, our fan base automatically thinks they could do "better" at UT?
