Official Gruden Thread 39

There is absolutely no way in hell, don't care what anyone says on here, that Gruden was purposely a misdirect. That's just dumb

I dunno. It’s as plausible as many of the other theories in here.

Gruden loves UT, wife a cheerleader, etc, right?

What if the AD knew he wasn’t interested, and knew many of the fans and boosters would be upset unless a run was made at him?

In that case, it could be useful to have him run interference to make the appearance that you’re going after him. Enthusiastic pocket books open up. At the point you have your coach locked up, Gruden announces he’s declining the job. You then have proof offer was made, and you tried to lay out the big bucks and go after the hire many wanted, you get the benefit of motivated boosters, and can wrap up the candidate you wanted without having Volnation sniffing out the deal and wondering why you weren’t going after Gruden anyway. So many have said “as long as they show they’re willing to try, I’ll be happy; “make him say no”, etc. In this scenario, everybody wins, except those that only wanted Gruden (who in this hypothetical was never an option anyway).

Edit: to extrapolate further, I presume it can be very damaging for an AD to appear to make multiple offers and strike out (as is often the case). If the fan base is in such a frenzy over Gruden, no one is listening to the noise they don’t want to hear (ie UT interested in -insert non Gruden name here). That could make someone like Gruden a valuable deception commodity.

Ok. Ya’ll want a laugh?

Someone on Facebook wrote that Gruden bought a Kabota tractor and they delivered it to his new house.

The thought of him and Cindy riding around West Knoxville on his tractor. 😂😂😂 She thinks my tractor is sexy.

The Grudens apparently are still hunting for said house.

No wonder we get along. Any sibs closer to my age?

Yea, a brother. He was in and out of White House schools. Went to private school then moved to Cape Coral with my mom.

Little background : I have lived in central Florida the last 15 years. Grew up in Knoxville. Been tough losing to Florida all but 2 of those years but also have a lot of bandwagon Alabama fans here too.

Alabama fan I know (basically since saban arrived) asked me who I thought T.N. would hire. (keep in mind that a ran my mouth a lot during the year of Kiffin and it has been a humbling 10 years lol) I tried to hold back but finally said gruden. The look in his eyes was priceless. You could see a little bit of, not fear but a realization of what that would mean. I of course covered my ass quickly and said i didn’t think it would happen and that the people who did are delusional. But it was a glorious 10-15 seconds.

We as Tennessee fans have earned the right to experience and see the look in that rivals face when it happens for real.

Gruden to the Hill!

Frankly guys, I'm going to respond to every negative piece of news NOT from Currie or Gruden's own mouths the same way.

Vague negativity from voices other than the principles does not change anything.

Not arguing with you Exile, but has your insistence on the Gruden deal being done come from Currie or Gruden’s mouths? It’s a real question.

I’m choosing to still believe because I want it to happen so freaking badly. Just wanted to pass on what I experienced because I was pretty bummed, and still am. That’s why I was hoping for some good news from someone...

Was there any tweets or nugs at all today?

Maybe - since we know this thread is being viewed by many - they know who we trust and either fed them bad info or asked to help in the smokescreens... Waiting for Gruden or Currie to say it. Unless that happens, I'm still all in.

Gruden could be Currie's smoke screen. Said it all along.

But.. I'm still all Gruden
