ok, that may change things, a little....would have to be awfully short list, and it's still risky at that. but if you're talking a couple guys...sure, it's possible.
Yep. They were the honey badger of college football at that time...and I agree wth you about why it came to that. 100% it was a stroke of genius.
Everybody's favorite underdog, on the blue turf, taking on all comers.
i don't know anything. just my best guess based on the information available to me.
and i've posted in this thread earlier, if he is signed, and it is going to happen, then the reason it most likely hasn't been announced is because of Gruden's distaste for interrupting a current coach's job. he's said on multiple occasions that it's not fair for him to comment on guys that still have a job, or speculate on candidates when there's a guy still employed. i'd imagine that being the case, he wouldn't want anything announced until after the season.
You are correct.I remember one time several years ago, when Colorado State went to #17 Virginia and beat them convincingly on Thursday night. I ran down to the bar thinking Fort Collins was going to go ape chit. No one even knew. It wasnt being talked about at all in national tv. It was dead. I recall saying to myself at that time.....Lubick found a seam, but never hit it full stride. Hes no doing this right.
Petersen did and took it to the house.
If you get to that point on the list, you have to examine YOUR process to see exactly where YOU are ****ing up. Because at that point, it's like the girlfriend when she breaks up with you saying "it's not you, it's me."
You know it actually IS you rather than her, despite what she said. And if it gets to that point, you go cheap on a Norvell hire at around $3.5 mil because you aren't paying good money to hire the head coach from the "Vandy of the SEC West."
Another analogy would be at closing time in a bar, and after all the hot girls have turned you down, you are faced with the choice of the bearded lady you know ain't going to get any prettier and the slightly nerdy chick that could be hot if she pulled off her glasses and let her hair down.
Let em go. He has earned the right to make that decision, and it's a lifetime decision for sure.
In a totally unrelated story: Seeing Bob Johnson 67 (AA center) honored as the Vol Great for the game last Saturday reminded me of the story of when he was being recruited. I believe he is from Sparta and he told his Dad he was thinking of going to Ga Tech. His Dad asked him where he was thinking about living when he got out of college. Bob said, he thought he would come back home. To which his Dad responded, "reckon how many of those Ga Tech folks live around here?"
There is definitely something to that. It's also the reason they had hoped to keep Butch until the end. That plan turned to doo-doo for a couple of reasons, and they had to back up and punt. So now, we wait.
