These people have some of the biggest egos on earth. They don't give two ****s who the fans wanted.

Lane Kiffin was (officially) hired on December 1, 2008, but news began to leak on November 28.
Dooley was an exception due to the circumstances so we'll ignore him (in more ways than one?).

For both Butch and Kiffin, the previous head coach was fired prior to the end of the season (though Fulmer stayed on until the end). This case seems to be most similar to Kiffin. I believe the Butch timeline was longer than hoped due to him being way down the priority list. The one variable we don't have historical data on is the early signing period. However, I still believe that an 11/28 hire (next Tues) would be in-line with previous hires.

Yes, you can argue "a new regime in charge," but I think the principles still stay roughly the same. I would speculate any leaks to start earliest on Friday 11/24 but more likely Monday 11/27 with the official announcement on 11/28. Many (potential) insiders have alluded to that day being significant. I think it logically makes sense. I wouldn't expect to hear anything this week.

Hank Hill from the RF said the AD is prepping for a Mullen interview on Friday. That provides the perfect amount of cover time to say "we're still interviewing" without looking like you're sitting on inaction for too long. Regardless of whether Mullen actually interviews (my thoughts are that he isn't), it's all just to keep the craziness at bay until Currie can actually make an announcement.

Fair enough. But when you come on here predicting things like that and you whip everyone on here into a frenzy, you have to understand the backlash and why people will have a hard time trusting you going forward.

If it had come true, you'd be a VN legend, so it was a risk-reward move to predict something that bold. Nature of the game.

We all want the same thing here. Just have to be patient and let it play out. In the end, it won't be about tipping hats. It'll be a full-on celebration.

Everyone seems to be in good spirits tonight!

Thats a Grude thing...a very Grude thing.

My heat quit working at home so ive been trying to get it going and havent been on here in a few hours. Its nice to come home to the Gruden thread after being away and not see chaos and a super meltdown happening.

Thank you. :)

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised at VFL92 misstating what I said. He's been very polite and rational throughout this process and has truly been someone whose posts I look forward to reading. So it bugs me a little that he would say that I said something he knows I didn't.

C'est la vie. :)
